Sarrazin second fastest R5 on SS1!
New season but Citroen still not awoken from their nightmare.
Even before the start there was info about 40% mud. So I'd guess late starters (Citroens and all after) get affected.
Sarazin second faster R5 on SS1, Titi Poizot destroying everyone in R3.
Lappi faster Toyota
The good news is: no abandons so far in the WRC-teams.
This stage must suite Bouffier. Let see what he can do.
Muddy or ...
(10 - Meeke Kris / Nagle Paul): A stupid spin.
(11 - Breen Craig / Martin Scott): spun
THU 23:29 - SS2: MIKKELSEN
Andreas slots his Hyundai second overall - 17.3sec off overnight leader Ogier. "That was okay, but there is a lot of gravel being pulled out on the road. I'm quite happy though - happy to be second to Seb."
Bare, massive weather changes (which is possible), it will be very hard for anyone to catch up on Ogier.
Not sure Mikkelsen got used to I20 on dry tarmac yet, prbly not.
Sordo might close up a bit but doubt he can charge.
Lappi has no WRC experience here and no good result on tarmac yet so will likely drop.
Tanak might close up a bit, but sounded like he was struggling with setup.
Latvala (body) language isn't exactly convincing.
Everyone else is too far back.
EDIT:Oh rain and maybe some snow higher up tomorrow, so perhaps there is something to watch for tomorrow anyway.
So Seb had good safety notes - seems he has great back up too!
10 sec penalty for Breen
about the ALL Live, im honest, what a DISASTER first day but ill wait and see whats it really like when they get helicopters up in the air and maybe it is better then?
i really like the hosting chick ;) and Jon Desperate hasnt actually been that bad as long he isnt commenting on live stages.
Actually the footage and interviews they just showed after the stages in the service park was nice, especially when they put the mic between Tänak and his engineers and you could hear how detailed he was explaining the cars behaviour to them. This is what i have always wanted to hear from the drivers.
Meeke said he reversed into a ditch after a spin... oh dear.
The guy leading 2wd, Jean-Baptiste Franceschi, seem to be a pretty capable driver.
Won everything in his class in france last year. Seems to do JWRC this year.
Cmon guys, just 2 stages in...They both did mistakes and Breen had amazing time on SS1 despite being stuck in the snow. They have definitely improved.
I think we will learn a lot tomorrow. Monte is known for attrition so it could be anyone in the end.
All in all I think Citroen did good. Breen was flying so the car is doing fine.
Interesting start to say the least.
Great job by Ogier as expected but no luck for Evans was a real shame. Bouffier steady and can improve.
Of the other teams, Mikkelsen was most impressive. Great times on very dirty roads. He could really challenge.
