Of-course, I forgot, thankx for reminding me.

What's more remarkable, he did it on wet. We all predicted that wet will = disaster for Citroen, but not to be.
Loeb testing came to late for Germany, so I think Citroen are making progress. I just don't know why this progress is not working for Meeke and Breen. Well, in a way it does work ....
Ogier nearly hit a deer !

Conditions seem to be really difficult. Respect to all of them who reached the end of the day without off-road excursions. Tomorrow is the big deal.

lucky as hell
WOW 5 min penalty for going 40 and 36 kph on 30kph zone.
Compare that with Ogier doing 160 on road with 90 top speed AND taking a roundabout the wrong way on purpose in Poland (he got only a fine for the roundabout).
and Hanninen doing 160 on a road with 80 in Finland (he got no penalties, even though it's documented by the GPS trakcing).
Double standards much.
EDIT: Thx I see now it's second time for both. But 36 on a 30 zone....
I highly recommend watching Tanak and Mikkelsen onboard from SS6.
Tanak has 3 moments - high speed sideways trough junction on start, the well published one which starts really innocent then seems to turn really ugly and at the last moment he pulls up.. and then another sideways powerslide later
Mikkelsen has at least 4 small ones including a missed braking (2-3sec lost), a braking completely without control and some sideways snaps.
Cause is second time to both
by wathing that, plus all the other offs you didnt see, you cant say luck doesnt play an element. but you mentioned before, how good drivers pick safe places to go off on? these guys are pushing over the limits of adhesion most times, and hoping they get away with it. and you wonder what some driver have accidents. us mere mortals cant actually fathom what it takes to drive like this.
So You still believe that it's caused by luck that some drivers keep crashing every time while others crash nearly never?
Somehow I forgot about Rally Germany this week, and now that I've recapped on all the events, it's fair to congratulate Andreas and Ott for today. I genuinely didn't expect them to be at the top today.
Also, poor Latvala. Three times in a row now that his car failed him. After so many years of being a fan and having to suck it up when he made the mistake, it's super unfair that the one year his confidence comes back and he drives quickly and consistently his car bites him back.
Now, on the topic of the Yaris' performance on tarmac, thoughts?

Anyone got a video link for the press conference?
Why Meeke was at the end? Today is re-started Day1 so he must re-start only from Saturday
OK I'm confused, seems Neuville is starting ahead of Ogier tomorrow. Start order based on O/A positions before the final SSS, when Ogier was still ahead ?
Good video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wtlaDwgTzJc
I meant he is doing much better that the start of the season. Remember he had not done a WRC rally in years. Shows how important it is to compete regulary. Sure he has not done enough to get a seat for next year, but doing a good job for manufacturer points, just what he is supposed to do
Is the rally over.
When the road is dry Neuville, Ogier, and I think even Mikkelsen are faster then Tänak. The Estonian did an amazing job. He handle the car good on tricky conditions and has a lot if luck today. But in dry situation it will be difficult for him to stay in front. I hope I am wrong. He did a really good job today.
Latvala was running in the top five before he was slowed by an issue on the final stage of the morning loop. The Toyota mechanics replaced the ignition system during the mid-day service

It just started to rain heavily/torrentially in #RallyDeutschland service park. Meaning tomorrow morning loop won't be dry...

I have to admit I was surprised to see Tänak do this well on tarmac. Also delighted to see Mikkelsen so high on a Citroen. Latvala could be fifth now without his engine problems, sad to see the car fail on him for the third time in a row.
The WRC+ daily highlights video apparently has a bug and stops at 12 minutes, but Redbull TV to the rescue...
Yes completely agree with what you wrote there.
------------
Things to watch today:
- Tanak on dry tarmac, in Corsica he was a bit behind the top 3 in speed, how about here.
- C3 on dry tarmac
- Ogier usually is very good on Panzerplatte, how about Neuville this year (related: tirewear on I20?)
- Breen vs Hanninen
