Your Turn.
He went 168.4 on May 12. But he was committed to his own deal I have read.
PS A TV personality lapped at 135 and hit 168 on the straight in one of the paxton cars. Whom was this spirited amateur?

James Gardner?Quote:

Basically a stretched midget using two frames. Finished the 1948 Indy 500 in the top 10.
The one in the photo was built by AJ Watson in 2001.
Nope not James Garner, the initials were JC...

hmmm, you gave me more info than I knew (did't know thew car in the photo was a replica)....
Interesting the combination of cars that they tried over the years. Roger Huntington did a small section on it in "Design nad Development of the Indycar" - bottom line is it was faster in the turns but slower on the straights so it worked out to be an average car....
Anyway, your turn!!
Here's a action shot for you Chris from 1948.Quote:

Though you'd all get a kick out of this photo of Johnny Carson getting ready to turn some laps in a Lotus turbine.
Phoenix -- My wife and I got to meet Didier in the paddock at a Meadowlands GP way back when. A very nice man, indeed.

Very cool info on Johnny Carson. I did not know that he was much of a driver. Just shows that learning never stop.
The car was a March 83C Cosworth according to my records.

I got the Johnny Carson thing from
Team Lotus: The Indianapolis Years-- Andrew Ferguson

I have to check to see if I have that Lotus book. I have the one just on the turbine car but the author name slips my mind.Quote:

there sure isn't much difference between the Theodore and the March. Does anyone know the history/lineage of the Theodore??
The 6 car driven by Cogan is listed as a Theodore-Cosworth TC.Quote:

You got it! mlv.
My info says an offy, but looking at the car again, I would say that's wrong and it's a Foyt.
You're up.
Actually i`m not sure about the engine - just took Foyt from entry list.Quote:
