Better for you guys who are not experienced drivers in snow to use studded tires, if you dont care much of your own safety, there is many others in the traffic that care of their.

There is no ban of studded tyres in Oslo either (I have it on my car) - but there is a small fee for using them inside Oslo borders, around 3 pounds/4 euros a day. If you go straight from the airport (Gardermoen) towards Sweden you don't have to think about it at all.

Otherwise, I agree with the above - on ice, studded are best, if there is snow covered roads (as it is now) non-studded should be OK if you are used to drive on snow. If not, be careful!

Are there some places in the stages with no-tree sections (not in forest but in open space)?
For example like Lillehammer stage in Rally Norway 2009 or icy lakes in past editions of Swedish Rally?
