I've read that, in order to be classified in 1987 World Rally Championship for drivers, every works driver had to have at least 1 start on a non-European rally.
However, Jean Ragnotti (a works Renault driver) was classified 5th in the Drivers' Championship with 51 points, having competed on Monte, Portugal, Corsica, Acropolis and San Remo. Not one outside Europe.
The same goes for his team-mate Francois Chatriot, as well, classified 13th, with 22 points.
Were Renault team excepted from that rule,or what?
Does anyone know anything more about that?
Thanks!
According to Martin Holmes' explanation of "points rules" for WRC 1987 driver had to copete at least once to became the World Champion. There is nothing about dividing drivers as "works" and "non-works" ones and applying them different rules. But participants of Production Car Cup (group N) to be classified were obliged to take part at least one outside Europe.Quote:

In the final results of 1987, Jean Ragnotti (5th) is considered as NP (no points) in some books and the same for Chatriot. Probably, your final results includes Ragnotti, Chatriot and some more elses (Béguin, Salonen, Loubet, Saby, Auriol...) but they must not be in an official classement.
In the constructors classement, Renault figures in third place according with the points it gets with the local 18 GTX in Argentina Rally

Interesting point this. It's the first time I've heard about this rule, and as Janusz has already mentioned Martin Holmes doesn't say anything about it in World Rallying. When I'm home I'll check some other books, but I don't remember seeing this rule before. What is your source?Quote:

Well, like janusz said, it looks like it was a one non-European start required in order to became a Drivers' world champion, and not to be eligible to be classified in the championship, as it says on jonkka's site, here, in the note in the top right corner:
http://www.juwra.com/season_1987_points.html
Hi there,
I'm new in the forum and I'm asking already help to all of you :blackeye:
Has someone of you pictures of the Audi Quattro S1 used in the Race of Champions 1990? I'm also looking to find out who were all the pilots who participated to this event..
Thank you very much
P.S.: is there a place where I can/have to introduce myself?
Welcome :) I can't help you with this Audi story. You can introduce yourself in the Motorcycle racing area. ;)Quote:

Thank you for missing names and correction of spelling error. Do you know first names of De Borck/Comings R5 GT Turbo who finished 9th in that rally (Haspengouw'90) ?Quote:

I have done some additions to the 1980 and 1981 Rallye Monte Carlo results in RallyBase last night (http://www.rallybase.nl/index.php?ty...lt&rallyid=288 and http://www.rallybase.nl/index.php?ty...lt&rallyid=276 respectively) and I discovered in both editions Swiss Daihatsu drivers.
In 1980 the following car was entered in Group 1:
#82 Mario Luini - Michel Wyder (38th overall)
In 1981 there are the following cars, all in Group 2:
#44 Carron - Schaer (retired, classified 93rd)
#50 Chapuis - Bernasconi (unknown)
#63 Mario Luini - Michel Wyder (28th overall)
The only car I could find that Daihatsu produced in those days that could be suitable for rallying is the 1-litre Charade. Is it correct that's the car used?
And does anyone know the first names of Carron (was it Jean-Marie or was it Philippe), Schaer, Chapuis and Bernasconi, and what happened to Chapuis?
On this subject, I recall Ragnotti certainly being listed in the championship points tables in magazines and on TV at the time. It could have been a mistake, but I somehow doubt they would have calculated the standings themselves without reference to the official listings.Quote:

Thank you for the information Janusz and Giorgio. I think it's Edy Bernasconi in 1981 by the way, or could Edy and Enzo be the same person?
Some first names from Boucles de Spa and Haspengouw 1987:
Valère Vandermaesen - Julien Aerts
Rob Stoneman - Roy Kernaghan
codriver of Renaud Verreydt is Jean-Manuel Jamar
2nd in Wallonie 1987: Lars-Erik Walfridsson (Swe) and Guy Briesen (Bel).
Hello,
Does anyone know where I could find some pictures of Minna Sillankorva, 1991 FIA Ladies' World Rally Champion? Her or her car will do.
Also, are there any sites with Finnish national rally results? I don't read Finnish so find it hard to navigate round Finnish rallying sites.
It's for my website.
Thanks!
... in Germany on the Nurburgring? I was there.Quote:

As you can see there are four crews between Reininger in 16th and Levalle in 20th. I guess one of these four was excluded or retired on the final road section. Does anyone know who is the odd one out ;)
Martini/Vitola are those guys you are looking for. I have no information what happened to them they are not classified.Quote:
