I am waiting to see if Alpine appeal before making a change.
Lance and Fred are my two drivers , so the crash wasn't a good moment for the team .
Having Alonso burned was another slap , so , hoping he can stick his tongue out at Haas and get those points back .
Besides , it was Ocon , not Fred , who complained about loose endplates on the Haas in previous races , so Alpine should find something to drill him with and leave Fernando alone .
I'm not happy about Alonso getting a penalty myself, but at the same time understand the position of Haas. After being shown the meatball several times this year, they are bringing to light the fact that the rules aren't always enforced properly, or in some cases at all. Though Checo's endplate seemed to deteriorate rather quickly, the fact that they never flagged him seems strange. In Alonso's case the mirror didn't come to light until after the pit stop obviously, but once again they never showed him the flag.
As far as how they are dealing with it, also strange. Haas brought it to their attention while the race was in progress. As such in my eyes they really shouldn't have had to file any protest, but from the last I've heard the FIA deem it OK beyond the usual time limits for (some reason). And in either case a 30 second penalty seems fairly strong considering how George only got 5 seconds and Lance only got 3 grid positions.
I forgot to mention, thanks for that, and good thinking to wait.
Besides, I don't want to hear the whining from Bagwan when he realized that Alonso might get robbed of his points after his Canadian team owners sun blew it for him. That and the fact that Team Trophy is beating him soundly might put him over the edge. It's better that you, the governing body with harsh penalties in his toolkit if needed, try to let him down lightly.
 ;)

Penalty reversed so everything stays as it is.
Just messing with you Baggy, I'm glad Fred got his points back too. I thought the penalty was way too harsh either way. And I get having to let Trophy Wife win, I'm glad my wife had no interest in FGP.... it might end bad for me.
As for smug, just taking lessons from George "this crash wasn't my fault either" Russell on how to be entitled!
So now if RB can take a win in Mexico it looks like the FGP battle between me and Lewis is all down to the Stroll vs Tsunoda battle. Lance has grid penalties coming up, but overall I think AM and Lance still have the upper hand. My only real hope is that Yuki can get some points that double for my bonus GP in Mexico.
With both Mercs looking competitive and splitting Max and Sergio... this may be more of a bit of nailbiter than you expected Airshifter. 😉
I really wasn't worried with Max up front. I expected RB to one stop fairly early in the race myself. I was just mad that Ricciardo took Yuki out of any chance at points. Though he wasn't looking on form to get them, it's my only chance to even things up or pull ahead.
With only 1 point in it now, it's all down to the Lance vs Yuki battle for the final couple of races. I think Lewis has the upper hand on me, but maybe if Yuki curses enough it will get in Lances head!
