of course, despite my last post - if the car is not anything to do with AOWR - a re-post would be in order... ;)Quote:

here's the car - a Dusenberg!! so it is an American Indycar and an ex-pat....
I was just thinking about our F1 Forum brothers and sisters. Since they do have the same type of thread but not as many postings as we do have here. :DQuote:

Brooklands killed what Indy "500" Champion? Note the quotations.
In the 1960's the remaining parts of Brooklands was used in a Major Motion Picture (About racing, not car racing though)
What was Brooklands surface?
I finally realized there was a good chance it was Brooklands - as Waldo said - there were not a lot of paved options in the era.... so I Googled "Americans at Brooklands" and low and behold - there was the car.... so I found it by somewhat focused blind luck!! ;)
As far as Waldo's questions:
According to the Hemmings article the car was a 1927 Dusenberg - one of 7 built and the only one remaining....
Dario Resta - winner of the pre-WWI Indy 350 (??) died at Brooklands in the 1920's
I thought the majority of Brooklands was concrete - I am sure the banks were...
Not sure about the movie or the track - not sure what "Basement Bessie' is....
I found a neat store of pictures at home - I'll post something tonight....
Right - so basement bessie is the car you were writing about on another thread - duh....
looked up the track - really interesting - didn't realize that was only the second paved oval... let's just say that TG didn't exactly have an original idea and see if anyone else knows....
The picture in question is of an INDY car (Duesenberg) so I believe it is on topic.Quote:

Back in the days before World War II car went back and forth across the pond and even copied like the Miller that Maserati copied. But a Miller used in the French GP to me would be a F1 car as it has been modified for used in those races.
