Mikko finish crazy the test? Funny the end of the video
Yes, the stages are very twisty and narrow and normally they are wet. Subaru last year was testing for Japan also.Quote:

agree with NOT,seems very slow...
So its not just me that thought that. It may be deceptive, but it looks as though its a good 10=15km slower through corners than what Loab's C4 would be traveling at.Quote:

I agree, too. The car looks very slow especially at the middle to exit of corners. It just doesn't seem to accelerate that much.... On the other hand, the car looks extremely stable under braking when entering corner. Anyways, still lots of work to do for Subaru.Quote:

add some km/h in corners and lets see if it is stable.
in acropolis you could see it in several stages.
but it is new car,so we have to wait.
wait for what, a miracle ??? Citroen Peugeot and ford all were competitive from the start...through the years of evolution of rallying NEVER a car that slow transformed into a winner !!! with restriction in homologation parts nowadays its hard to see magnifiscent results.Quote:

agree with you NOT.
all the previous good rally cars may had reliability problems from start, but all were fast from first ss.
maybe cause prodrive ''forced'' to use s14 in Acropolis,it is not finished yet in terms of speed?
well maybe....and i wish its that way...but i highly doubt it....and what would be the benefits of using a non ready car early??
to finish earlier the work progress for speed-reliability?
at rallies only you can measure the speed vs other cars in same conditions.
it is good to have 3 competitors instead of two,but even i doubt that is going to be fast.
previous years with 3 competitors for the win, were much more interesting.
ie mitsubishi-ford-subaru(1995-2000) or in gr B with audi-lancia-peugeot

Subaru seems to lack some engine performance and in the video you could see Märtin's driving style which should be very precise - it looks slow but the clock tells you different story. But you are right, it looks like it does not have too much acceleration coming out from corners.
Surely that was a recce run of the Subaru testing?
Not only did it look slow, it also looked mind-numbingly boring in a Focus type of way :(
It was not one run, it was 4 days of testsQuote:

It doesn't look faster than the Suzuki WRC on it's debut in Corsica last year :SQuote:

Slow is Smooth, Smooth is Fast!
I wouldn't call second place the first time out slow! I remenber seeing footage of Citroen testing to replace the Xsara back in 2003. That's 4 years to testing for Citroen vs. a year for Subaru? Peugeot's first year with the 307 was a disaster (not to be bashing Peugeot I love the 307). Can't really comment on Ford since they've been running remakes of the same car for the better part of a decade, not that they even need a new car right now ether.Quote:

The gap between Loeb and Petter was fairly big, and Petter wouldn't be able to finish 2nd place if not for Ford's troubles. Beside it's hard to tell the car is really fast or not in Acropolis or Turkey. The only conclusion I draw from Acropolis is that Petter took care of the car well.Quote:

- The Ford teams suffered because they where pushing to the limit and it caught up with them. Weather they where trying to catch up with Lobe or to try and keep the big boys in blue behind them. They where maxed out, plane and simple. Solberg and Mr. Mills won 2nd fare and even.[/*:m:38l3n1yt]

Simple, clock tells if a car is fast or not and new Subaru has not shown any signs of being fast enough to win. Only way to win is to hope others to retire.Quote:

If all Citroen and Ford retire, I wouldn't say Subaru was the fastest just because Subaru finished first.
Märtin is very happy about new Subaru's tarmac speed: http://www.mtv3.fi/urheilu/ralli/uut...2008/06/666388
Martin says he has to drive outside his element to do the testing for other drivers. Maybe that had something to do with the pace during testing.
