As I told before, everything was correct according to the rules. Car was blocking the road, another Citroen tried to push it away to clear the rally route and during that pushing process Loeb forgot 2 gear in and accidentally released the clutch and car got going again! Simple as that!
Come on, give the guys some credit, they pushed the car with the spiked tires uphill through the snow to that narrow place under one hundred cameras. How often you can see multiple world champion doing that. Ford was also happy, because they were able to see closely under the DS3 bonnet, very closely :-P

Loeb had some luck after all. If he would have been the last Citroen then I cannot imagine Latvala, Hirvonen or Östberg pushing him :-P

i think nowadays a peek at the laptop connecting to the cars ecu is worth more than a peek under the bonnet...they can do that in service anyway.

I found the whole incident fascinating, using the wheel brace wrench to get extra leverage and the highres gridded photo of the engine bay to identify the fault in "sectorA4" as opposed to "behind the big pipe with the squiggly black thing".

Chris Patterson should be completely ashamed of himself, can't believe that he was slower than Matt Wilson :laugh:

Great start to the season and beautiful scennery.
I would have liked to see Mads on the highest step, it was so close. Big congrats to him and to Ford.
TV stage is a good thing, hope the championship won't be decided by those extra points though.
Last driver to take extra points in the last stage was Auriol in Ruuhimäki 99, he also won the powerstage in Corsica while Mäkinen also took (2+2) 4 points in Corsica and Finland but it eventually didn't interfere in the race for the title with Burns.

Now heading to Mexico, looking forward to seeing what sideway action those tiny rally cars are capable of.

Was the power stage driven after the normal race or was it part of the race like this year. Because in Finland 1999 both Auriol and Makinen were retired and got points only from power stage.

Remember also Catalunya and Corsica 1999 with extra points for live tv stage..

yes...so far all rallies that have an announced itinerary have a power stage though...in 99 only selected events had them.

If I remember right, power stages before (99) were separate races and they were not counted to results of the whole event. If you were retired from the race you could still take part to the power stage. And that's what drives want the power stage to be...
