Sebastien Loeb against night stages
Sebastien Loeb has admitted the shift towards night stages in the World Rally Championship could hasten his decision to retire from the sport. The eight-time world champion has a contract with Citroen until the end of next season, but the Frenchman has a clause in the deal which would allow him to walk away at the end of 2012. FIA president Jean Todt and WRC manager Michele Mouton have pushed on in recent weeks with their vision to take the sport back to its endurance roots. But Loeb admitted he found it difficult to share their enthusiasm for change.
Yeah, but let's look at the margins that now exist from 1st to 5th.Quote:

Given that Jean Todt wants to push this more, aren't we just risking a situation whereby we have longer time over more days to know who's going to win?
I'd prefer a good tight sprint over 2 days under more equal situation to find out who truly is the winner.
The rally is still very long.... the one with less punctures will win... but for that to happen Hirvonen should take risks and push...if the top 3 go for preservation of the places due to team orders then it is going to be boring...
Also lets see if Ogier was just playing tonight (which i think he did) and tommorow he will drive as he can.

More Loeb news. Apparently he turned left when the road went right after a crest. The pace note was correct he just turned the wrong way!
Have You forgotten his crazy nights stages in Wales few years a go when he was fighting for the title (if I remember some totally without lights)? One crash in the night is one crash in the night, nothing more.Quote:

Rallydriving contains many different skills, why not driving in the dark. It will again introduce notes at a higher level than what it has been in quite a few years now.Quote:

One can of course also have this in a sprint rally.
If we include to compare drivers from the past to now. I would like to see anyone who could be able to follow Marku Alen on Finnish roads in fog at night.
I will also include chick from France in Audi on British stages in heavy rain in the dark.
Drivers of today, of course, no real experience of darkness, but that does not mean that it should not be introduced again.

Today will be a very muddy day. It rained all night.
Can´t wait until second leg begins today. First sleeping all morning after one nights work at the NPP, just to wake up to the first stage later on today. Exciting!
Should be an interesting day for sure, hope Latvala and Solberg can capitalise. Only 7.5 hours to go..
Prodrive have some things still to perfect on the 01B it seems. Does anyone know what caused this mechanical fault? I can't believe they still haven't got all the gremlins out of the car...
From M-Sport press:
Ott: "Of course I’m not so happy with the middle stage [SS3] because we made a bit of a stupid mistake there. We forgot the lights because it was pretty light at the start of the stage and then it was getting too dark and I was thinking something is missing! "
:D :D :D
I will not say too much here and certainly not about Loeb. ;)Quote:

Now let's wait for the weather as the second factor :)

Prokop's Fiesta sounds and accelerates like old Escort mk2 :D he says it was the coil (bobbin) and is already repaired. Sordo had a ruptured alternator cable. Paddon confessed his stunning time in SS2 was due to soft tyre choice. Breen had a misfire after a watersplash.
Easy 1-2 for the Fords if they dont anything extremely stupid. If Solberg make 10 seconds to Hirvonen in the first loop he will give up for sure, his frustration of unsuccesfull chasing over the years is too big.
+1 imoQuote:

Matt performed his promise to, but in Portugal arrived plastered leg, but by the park service moved only with crutches. As it turned out, the healing process considerably delayed - and now the young Briton feared that he could not get to start until May Acropolis Rally ...
"All right, I'm really on the mend, but it turned out that the injury is more serious than I thought originally - said Wilson. - When I fell, it ripped all the ligaments, so that it will take more time that they have grown together again. "
Sam Wilson is convinced that restored by the Rally Argentina - it will be held in late April - but hurry back behind the wheel of a rally car ahead of time is going.
"The last thing I want to go to Argentina and after the race to fall back to the hospital bed - admitted Matthew. - But for Greece, I should be ready in full.

LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL
Allso winter driving is hard for older people... :D
I'm just saying, but Loeb takes vision test every year and he got good enough vision to fly a fighter jet (where night vision is very important) so it has nothing to do with his vision or ageQuote:
