Isn't the fact that he has decided to completely disregard Loeb exactly that? An acknowledgement that there is way to much risk involved in trying to fight him, so rather just go at a pace you feel safe and comfortable with and then just make sure you keep second place?
He knows the risks involved in trying to beat Loeb on outright pace, and does not feel the need to take those risks - probably helped along that route by VW management who would surely be delighted with an outright second on the debut of the car..

It's not that he isn't acknowledging Loeb, he's just chosen his battles wisely - an approach that I admire personally.

You base Your opinion on the assumption that Ogier speaks same what he thinks and how he acts however I'm far from being sure about that.

I am very well aware that the young man is not necessarily doing exactly what he is saying, of course it is at least partly a clever ploy to lower expectations if people (and the media..) expect an all-out swordfight between Seb Sr and Jr. :)

Juho sounds in interviews like a mixture of Markku Alén and Tommi Makinen. He really is the personality we want in WRC.

The battle between Hirvonen, Latvala and Hänninen could be epic in the next two days!

And I like a mix of Alen (my all time favourite) and Mäkinen

Sordo and Novikov could also be involved - let's see who has kept enough reserve for tomorrows snow, remember the 3 stages are 1 passage only and 1st on the road is a disadvantage.

You are right but I think Sordo and Novikov will keep the distance with the Finns, their own battle for the podium looks very promising too. It should be a great day tomorrow.

This is why I don't follow the splits often. Just come here and find out from you lot! It saves me a little grief.
