He did this also in Monte and I think in Monza. When asked to speak in "non-english" language he speaks German. Dunno why, normally he speaks French.

"A really disappointing start to the rally. The first stage was my mistake, but the second stage was really disappointing with the gravel.
"We have to do something with the setup for tomorrow because on the second loop - when we have a lot of gravel lines - the car is understeering and I am using the front tyres too much.
"It's not too disappointing if you see we are still third, but it's really disappointing because the feeling in the car is not good."
Breen
"It's nice. These conditions are quite unique and it's definitely something special to doing 200kph in the woods in the pitch dark!
"I had a very good start position and I don't think I took the full benefit. On the second one, I think I tried a bit too hard and completely lost the studs towards the end.
"Absence makes the heart frow fonder maybe, and I feel a lot more comfortable now that I have a programme and I know what I'm doing."
Media Zone: Tänak
"It's still very early, so there's no reason yet to think about anything. It's been a typical rollercoaster for Finland - it's very technical with up and down stages.
"The car balance can be better, so there's definitely still things to do. Everything can change tomorrow, we just need to stay focussed and keep pushing."

or they have different gear ratios?
Pretty sure I would like to see and buy Moyendo that gains speed on icy road better than WRC car on 7mm studs..
Current Fiesta WRC would be competetive enough with a fast driver..
Solberg showed good pace on SS2..
It's better to show top 3-5 times on stages and crash, rather than crawling the car to the end..
All the Hyundais had lost their aero, but still didn't lose 3 days..

My point is that Ford isn't suddenly so shiyuwamba as everybody thinks.. I bet that in 2022 they will surprise everybody... AGAIN.
SS2 has telemetry, here's Suninen when the limiter kicks back

In the past it was quite common that the highest top speeds on long on straights were achieved by Gr.N Lancers. Does that mean they had better engine than WRC cars? Of course not. They only had some 3000 RPM left between peak power and the RPM limiter.
Better gearing?
Kalle's top speed was 10-15kmh higher, but couldn't hold it as long..
You are acting like a child. Gearing is about optimal use of power curve through the rally. The resulting top speed may or may not be of high importance for the team but the most important is power delivery.
The only way for us fans to judge the team's selection is results. We don't have anything else which is clear. Unfortunately we are not able to extract particular performance influences and most importantly we don't know their engine power charts, hence why we can never know if the team selected their gearing optimally or not. That's what they need to analyse and that is their know-how for the next edition of the event.
So far Tänak is clearly leading, i.e. there doesn't seem to be anything wrong with their choices.
