michelin video day 2
https://youtu.be/ehtugs1rbTU
The watersplash where Ogier is cutting over the concrete side at 0:22 is just before the spot where Tanak stopped. (the vid is from first pass btw.) Could be where the damage is from.
EDIT: nvm it was a different place. Just showed it on alllive, it's a hole that he hit under braking.
Of course I do not wish reteirment to anybody, especially for technical reasons, but we all should be fer and say, that Tanak was the only one, who had his share of luck in Turkey....all others were efected. So, once is this period over. But, rally is far from over, Ogier is in the last time also prone to mistakes, so nothing is decided yet.
The on board is on allive (the evening "media zone" section). Tbh like Sardinia, it's not like it was completely out of his control.
Looking forward to see if Latvala can annoy Ogier tomorrow. He needs to be perfect to win, though.
Tanak will go flat out for the PS which I hope he'll win, even if just for a handful of points.
Paddon will let Neuville pass probably, what if Mikkelsen passes Ostberg? Will he drop behind Ostberg again to drop behind Neuville as well?
Also I'm fairly sure both Toyota crews are under orders to try to get ahead of Ogier tomorrow to minimize his points chances and maximize Otts.
this really caused it? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VXZTqGxhlWg
thats not even a hard hit
It seems to me that Toyota generally took more risky approach. You win something on speed and You loose something on reliability. How can we judge if that astrategy works or not other than by results? In this moment they are leading the manufacturer championship and even though they might not win the driver's title we simply can not say that their strategy has been failing.
Tänaks first words for estonian media: "The sump guard came off and broke the radiator, what can i say, thats life. The game still isnt over yet but at this moment when you have made all the hard work it is so hard. Of course i will still try but if you look what points were taken away from us then it is painful. The power stage is on the first pass tomorrow and we will be last ones so it will be hard but i will go for maximum"
Lappi joking about Breen fire at Turkey https://www.facebook.com/wrc.driver....6627956139553/ ))))
Guess Neuville didn't care about opening the road on Sunday, nothing to gain from where he is... well, except PS points.
Read in an interview with Mikkelsen that they think it will polish tomorrow also, i thought those stages would have dried up today

"I arrived a little too fast, I undersigned ... I pulled the handbrake, and the rear landed in the ditch, said Thierry Neuville at the microphone of Olivier Gaspard, RTBF's special correspondent in Wales, I was posed, I skated, I could not move on, I did not think about the championship, I just hoped there were enough spectators push the car so we can start again as soon as possible! "Finally, it did not take long: after forty seconds, we were gone.
The only point "positive" for the leader of the World Championship this Saturday is the abandonment of his rival Ott Tanak, who flew over the rally before being betrayed by his mechanics (broken radiator).
"It's the same scenario we experienced in Turkey: in the lead on the second day, and an abandonment on mechanical concerns, it's part of the race, the rally."
Never in the rhythm of the best, however, Thierry Neuville will have to try to move up the rankings and score points in the Power Stage Sunday, his other opponent in the race for the title, Sebastien Ogier, having risen from fifth to first position .
"In front, now there is a big fight with four cars in less than fifteen seconds, I think the situation will still evolve, said the Hyundai driver. My teammates, right in front of me, will probably agree to help me a little bit! Sunday, it's not too bad to go in the first positions, although it's never easy to know in advance what exactly will be. I'll be the first to take the road, we'll see! We'll give everything in the Power Stage, we have no choice. We have never really been in the rhythm of the best this weekend, so it will be difficult to get the five points, but a few, it's possible. Perhaps this shakedown off has something to do with the later damage of Tanak's car... https://youtu.be/THtyWLpWV04?list=PL...15AAw6fIN8yU6E
How come? They changed the parts after that.
Our mechanics and engineers did exellent job this evening and we are happy to tell you, that the car of @OttTanak and Martin Järveoja #8 is ready to hit the roads - so it is Rally 2 tomorrow

Citroën/Tanak/Neuville/Mikkelsen: 5 MICHELIN LTX Force S6
Lappi: 5M6
Latvala/Ogier/Evans: 2S6 +3M6
Paddon: 4S6 +1M6
yep. And if that problem yesterday caused by that off at shakedown - he never survive 1.5 days and 200+ km of special stages and problem didn't come of. If it's shakedown damage it will pop-up at Friday morning stages. And it's unlikely that in 4 services they didn't spot problem with a radiator.
