I just got back from what was an amazing first visit to Ypres and when im a bit more awake, il add a few pictures etc!
But if anyone has any oubts about going to this rally..... just do it!!
It was interesting story. He went straight in one junction. Then he turned around and let one S2000 car to pass him (He didnt mention the name). About 700 meters later the same S2000 made a mistake and was blocking the road. To avoid the collision Kangur tried to pass the car from the side of the road but got stuck and spent next 10-11 minutes there.Quote:

Damn, Kangur is quite an unlucky guy, he was making good times :(Quote:

i can understand the desision.
I like all the photos.
Olivier Ural did a stupid fail on our TC at Hollebeke to give his Timecheckpaper or how u call it in english 10 seconds too early and then sign the other paper that he's agreeing with the check in time. Afterwards that we said that both were yelling they didn't check in too early.. A bit understandable but it's a waste of energy to do that..
I asked boys to have a look on that. There was some time changed to Jasper during the rally, so maybe it comes from that (maybe some notional time, I don't know).Quote:

I think 2 days against such competition was probably phisically and mentally too hard I think :( for her. Respect for her decision she was a great co pilot and great to see man and wife working so good together!Quote:

Pluto did u get the chance to talk with Bouffier about his Fia A status?
I predict some support from Skoda to start Barum :)Quote:

What a great time I had, things we learnt:-
The Punto lacks performance to really be competitive any more.
Wilks has got the ability to get some podiums this year.
When Proton get their new engine, PG and Basso will be up near the top.
Hans Weijs Jr is as good as I've been saying - I'd really like to see him take on Tanak at Rally Germany in SWRC.
The Mini is getting better all the time.
Can anyone who was at the finish ceremony (or has been told) tell me why Van Der Heuval's co-driver Martine was crying during the interviews? (it was all Dutch to me)
Just working out the one top 10 prediction poster compared to mine.
She's quitting her codriving career. Very hard time for her recovering from the nasty accident they had in Germany last year. Naturally she's emotional.Quote:

Are Proton planning a new version of the current engine or are you referring to a future 1.6T engine?

From what I gathered, speaking to one of the Proton Mechs on Saturday night, there is a new version of the current engine in development to improve the reliability and speed of the Neo S2000. Also, they seemed very happy with the performance of Basso and PG, when running!Quote:

It's not because of the drivers that Proton don't get better results... it's only about the car... Proton was presented in 2009... now 2011 and I don't see major develepments in the car...
To me it even got worse... in 2009 Wilks and Alister McRae showed something good with the Proton...Quote:

The problem when you start behind is that you have to keep up with the development of the competition and make progress on top of that. That is not easy when you are competing against two full works teams.
It was surprising that only Basso retired and that it was an off, because Basso retired early already in the shakedown because of a mechanical failure.Quote:

I don't think so. Shakedown was after scrutineering and that means engine can't be changed anymore.Quote:

Or u mean another version of engine?
Engine is sealed at scrutineering. You can't change it for another one no matter the type. For other parts it's not same for all. Some are unlimited, some not. Anyway it's like rally already started in terms of spares.
