Well, let's begin. France has been last in the group stage for the second big tournament in a row! They have certainly a lot to think about this massive low. As I felt, another European giant fell. Italy showed signs of attack at times, but those were too few and far between. Both finalists of the 2006 WC finishing last in the group stage - amazing!
England somehow sneaked through the group stage and even found some decent attack in the 1/8-finals, which had been missing before, but as life has constantly proven in football - it would be a surprise if England actually achieved something instead of their usual nothing. "Defence" in the game against Germany is not really that can be called a defence. England has their own ways of dropping out - sometimes with penalty shootouts, sometimes uncounted goals contribute (like in '98 against Argentina), but what is always sure - they do drop out.
Germany vs Argentina (provided the game ends as expected) - a repeat from 2006 quarterfinal. Germany has had a few iffy moments and also against England fell a bit asleep at one moment. In the future this needs to be avoided as Argentina would certainly be a tougher rival.
I liked the way Japan sneaked through the group stage. What an efficiency! Both Cameroon and Denmark seemed more active against them, but the Japanese nicely managed to capitalize on opportunities. Better than those teams, who bomb 100 shots to nowhere.
I'm tired of silly refs and stupid FIFA
Another crap decision by a referee (Rosetti again), this World Cup will be remembered for all these mistakes made by them...and I blame FIFA for that  Mexico played very well and don't deserve to be down 2-0 :(
But even after watching the super-slow replays in the Italy game I was still not sure if the ball was over the line or if goal for 2-2 was off-side :pQuote:

No, they got a decision which went for them against New Zealand which us yet another English speaking nation.Quote:

The Kiwis complained about the decision but Iaquinta stepped up to convert from the spot, much to Italian relief.
Had the result not been decided by a dodgy penalty, New Zeland would have gone through to the Round of 16... and then been smashed.
Five from five. Can I collect my free prize now?Quote:

That was another mistake but has nothing to do with...the English speaking nation. Referees are not good enough and stupid FIFA don't want to help them :mad:Quote:

I suspect that there is a deep rooted resentment to the fact that FIFA don't control an aspect of the game, much like their resentment towards UEFA for having a shiny, glossy European Champions League that's worth so much money.
To be honest, I´d resent Soccer Greats like Northern Ireland, Scotland or Wales having too much say in the rules of the game too :p
With all the world watching, it is an embarrassment that these situations are happening.
Here in the U Sof A soccer has had a chance to get many new fans but I'm sure that when they see what it happening with these whacked out decisions that rob teams, countries and rob from the spectacle, they will happily go back to their video replay sports.
It's very sad really.
:dozey:
Jon Brown, now who is it, Klose or Rooney ? ;)
I realised that Rooney was playing around 70th min
That's a klose kall.Quote:

FIFA's response to bad calls:
Ban replays inside the stadium!
http://soccernet.espn.go.com/world-c...cc=5901&ver=us
So the problem is not the fact that bad calls are made at key points of the game, it's the fact that bad calls are caught and called out.
:dozey:
Why that's just brilliant.
Idiots
Ridiculous decision!
Can't feel sympathy for England. It's not the nation's fault, but the luddites in the FA deserve what happened, as they were part of the IFAB decision to ban technology from football. The best thing that can happen to fooball right now is a lot of bad referee calls going against England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland...
Bad call in that Eng-Ger game.
Mr. Blatter says 'hey, no matter what we do a human has to make the final call, so we'll leave it as it is!'
Huh?
Anyway... my prediction (since voting is closed) is a Brazil/Argentina final. BRA up 2 on Chile. No point in watching the 2nd half... :D
Jezuuss Brazil is puttind a serious beat-down on Chile 3-0 before the 60th minute
That's like in a court of law, the judge and the jury ignored all the evidence and call it like they feel that day.Quote:

Brazil looked great today and the upcoming Argentina/Germany game is going to be a treat.
Except for the pitiful ref decisions and the FIFA's retarded stance, I'm loving the World Cup.

your ruining my buzz! :D
Argentina is going to tank this game and you know it.
Exactly whats in it for you? ;) ......
Really? The FA deserve it? Why? The FA and the Scottish FA were in favour of in ball technology and video refereeing when the vote was made back in March.Quote:

The FA and Scottish FA had both voted in favour of technology but were defeated by six votes to two – FIFA’s four votes plus those of the Welsh and Irish FAs.
Please explain why England deserves it. I don't follow your logic.
My statement was based on a Hungarian news report that, in reflection, turned out to be erroneous. I take it back.Quote:

I always find blaming a manager to be bs. Like an F1 team manager is responsible for the pace of their drivers in a small group of races?
Well people look at the players who are all "world class" in their respective teams, but then fail to impress at international level. But I agree the manager isn't the thing, it's a much more fundamental issue with English football.Quote:
