Why would VW need a good result? I'd say they need both cars to finish so they have enuff data from the cars
and checked notes to the drivers. And by checked notes I mean notes which are beeing driven in a racing speed.

AFAIK Mads is a customer not a 'Team' member (unless the price he pays has a discount for staying behind M-sport / Ford) . What collateral does Mad Malc have - threaten not to give Mads the latest improvements for the rest of the season?

2012 ss times are faster than 2011. is it due to snow conditions? Did anything changed in the cars-tires specs?

it doesn't seems like SVT will show it live. They will have a short 15 min broadcast in a few minutes.
But no broadcast when the stage is run.
