It was pretty funny when they came into service this morning also with "Have you ever seen the rain" playing in the background!

Sat 10:44 - Tanak retires for the day
We can confirm that our championship leader will not go any further today. A real shame for Ott and Martin.
hats down Ott for staying so calm but you could read between the lines he has had enough with the car
Tänak just interviewed on All Live. "these things keep happening to us" and "difficult to fight for championship if so many issues like that"
I wonder if the contract is already signed...
Tanak told now car was on a road mode. So it works, maybe he must try to go trough two short stages on road mode to the service.
Wasn't it "everything is safe mode"?
The outcome would have been the same, just the risk of more damage to the car and oneself...
And the contract proably isn`t signed yet, yes. Tänak himself actually said this weekend that there are more than one and less than five interesting offers on the table. In the light of M-Sport/Hyundai not interested anymore, what to believe...:D
Aw Thierry was so unlucky. Why weren't there 4min gaps? Couldn't see in the dust and just literally drove off the road
Malcolm preparing Tänak's contract :D

Well yes, but the point in that would be? A working car was loosing massively, + there is the PS tomorrow. The risk of not making there vs trying to salvage 10. place today, in safemode.
Latvala wild here
Wonder how the Yaris handles in the fast stuff now with that new wing
Sat 11:15 - Tanak on his retirement
"Just came here and nothing happens. We cannot fire it up. Something electrical. No (indication). Five days ago we stop and start and nothing like this happened. There is no need to control everything now. It is back to the fight now in Wales. Difficult to fight for a championship if we have issues like that....!"
Sat 11:04 - Kaj Lindstrom on Ott Tanak's retirement
"The engineers were talking with Ott on the phone. We believe it is ECU-related or some wiring issue but when we get the car back we will know more. At the moment it is a disappointment that it happened."
I know Tidemand is first on the road, but doesn´t his car slide to much after corners? Maybe he should try softer suspension at rear?
Edit: Maybe it was Latvala flying-mode...that made me think?
five kms not five days
Latvala said he drove like Vatanen; "very spectacular...!"
Amazing drive and fantastic time by Mikkelsen!!
So reasons for top guys failure is: no 4 min gap on SS8 (Neuville), and bad electrical Japanese gizmos (Tanak) ... :( :)
Not much to fight for in this rally anymore. Maybe 3rd if Suninen can respond after lunch but Mikkelsen is fast
Dunno why Becs is getting so excited by Lappi being up on Ogier on the splits. Seb will be on cruise mode knowing he has the win if he stays out of trouble - he doesnt need to drive near 100% as Lappi will give him the win anyway
Lappi is pushing for..... team orders
Lappi 5sec faster at 1st split from Ogier
ofcourse they swap LAppi for Ogier, if it stays like that on sunday.. it smells, but it is Citroen's and Ogier's aim, WDC
Nice time by Rovanpera.
Well, it's a complete no-brainer really to do the switch, win or not, no need to even think twice about it. If you would start to feel very bad about doing this kind of simple team order decisions it would be the time to quit WRC team bossing.
And if Lappi will keep it clean to the finish he will have done a huge job anyway and probably the best WRC event in his whole career, even if it won't be a win on the paper. So far I rate this performance higher than 2017 Finland. His performance yesterday on SS6 was absolutely huge, incredible from that road position and showing that magic talent that has always been hiding there underneath. This is an especially big performance for Lappi because lately it has threateningly looked like he can only be quick on the fast stuff and completely lost in the slower events. Now he just needs to sort out his tarmac driving and iron it all in general so that he is able to keep it all together for three days without mistakes.
Shame for Tänak, but the fragile Toyota has been pretty much the only thing keeping this Championship alive for us from day one. I like that the Championship stays tight, but you gotta be honest, Tänak is the benchmark and the driver of the moment. Whether or not he wins the Championship this year is irrelevant to that question. Still, I'm not sure if I would put Tänak ahead of Ogier yet as a complete package, that's debatable...but when we are talking about pure speed then there is no competition. In that category Tänak is the most impressive driver for me in a very long time, you really have to go way back to see something as impressive. And the killer instinct the guy has is just awesome. Yeah...he really seems like a bit of a dick sometimes but for some reason I accept that in the really top drivers, when they know they are the best and show it. Ogier and Neuville clearly have the same cockiness.
And talking about Neuville it all just seems like a bit of a déjà vu. I adore the guy's driving style, it's really poetry in motion when he goes into his tyre management mode in the long loops and you can see that he really drives the car like it should be driven, no energy wasted, it all looks nicely controlled and well thought out. He seems to drive with his head. But how do these random things just keep happening to him whenever the season arrives to the final few events? It's starting to get bizarre.
Got back to the Tanak interview. He actually said that he turned the car off and started it again in a refuel that was 5 km before the spot where he couldn't start it.
