Latest news from Krzysztof Holowczyc is that he... refused to carry the olympic torch for the Olympic Games in China (well done Holek  )
because of the tibet thing???
Probably, and I agree with his action !! China free Tibet !!!!
OK it's out of subject in this thread :mark:
Are you joking or its for real?Holek is popular enough to carry the Olmpic torch???Is rallying that popular in Poland???
Yeah strange finally in a way, rally has never been part of the Olympic games
Holek is very popular in Poland, but rallying is not.
He takes part in TV shows, road safety actions, he is "the face" of Orlen petroleum company (he has also other, shorther term contrats), plays in tv commercials, is interviewed in different type of magazines and newspapers. Very important is that he knows how to be a public person.
Thats very nice!!!I must admit I had no idea about Holeks popularity...Do people at least know that he is a rallying legend in Poland???
Of course! Rallying = Holowczyc in mind of average polish citizen :)
the truth is that he refuses to carry the olympic torch not because of tibet but because it was planned that this ceremony will take place in chinese canton on 4th of june, and rajd polski starts on 6th...
Yes, although he hasn't been competing in rallying on a regular basis for some 5 years, Holek is still very popular in Poland. But you should have seen what was going on here in his golden days - at the end of the nineties. He was the biggest star here, not only a sportsman... Even today it didn't change much. Last year they made a nation-wide poll asking people about the most popular sportsmen in Poland. If I remember correctly the results were 1) Adam Malysz (ski jumper), 2) Robert Kubica (F1 driver), 3) Krzysztof Holowczyc
Here is what Holowczyc said about his resignation of carrying the olympic torch:
After thinking about it for a long time, asking of opinions of many people and institutions, I decided to resign from taking part in the Olympic Torch relay. It is a way of my personal protest against mixing politics with sports.

Guys what do you think about this driver's driving style? His name is Kramarczyk, he drives an old low budget Opel Astra, with old tyres, bad suspension etc. but there are many people in Poland that love his style:

As you can imagine.. I only know this guy from this video..Quote:

thanks Jarek ;)
well, I think he is too dangerous for the spectators...and for himself. What a crazy driver....
And do you know who Kramarczyk's main sponsor is? A salt sticks manufacturer. Do you like salt sticks with your beer? :)

Bon appetite! :)
Great video Jarek, and awesome driving style he has. Does he often come to end of rally, or does he go off on regular base :eek:Quote:

Don't get me wrong but last time I saw an old Astra going on it's limit was on Stage 3 Barum Rally some 5 kilometers before the fatal accident...

Pics of shakedown on the link above ;)
Apparently Lubiak won't start the rally and Grzyb had technical problem with his Grande Punto during test
Rally has started...are all the forum polish members out ???
Great battle between Bouffier and Kosciusko for the lead, with Kuzi', Grzyb and Solowow not far behind(after SS3 - two stages left to run before end of leg) :)
Great fight for the lead, 8 drivers separated by less than 20 sec, Kajetanowicz is also very fast as usual. :)
On SS6 this morning, Kosciuszko and Kajetanowicz reduced the gap on Bouffier once again... :)
But with the 20km long stage(SS7) coming now what will happen ?? :p :
Edit: the 20km long stage(which will be run three times)has just been shorten to 18km
As expected, best time for Bouffier in the longest stage!!! ;)
Puncture and loss of 50s for Kosciuszko :(
Good time for Solowow only 4.6s slower than Bouffier :D
Mr. Solowow is having a strong performance with the 207 S2000
After SS8 Bouffier has a gap of 26s advantage over Kajetanowicz, fastest of the non-S2000s... ;)
After SS11...
Fantastic show from the 207 S2000s in Poland with Bouffier unbeatable in the lead, Solowow fighting with Kajetanowicz for 2nd overall and Kosciuszko back after his puncture(5th overall) :)
Victory for Bryan Bouffier in front of Kajetan Kajetenowicz and Michal Solowow !!!! :bounce: :bounce:
How many polish rally fans are really active on this forum? I know two and one of them was on the stages from friday's morning ;)Quote:
