NOR - Two Basses Ford Team Europe has finished Rally Monte Carlo
"So, we have done this really tough race and we are happy to get it over. We didn't spend much time to get the right setup and race notes, because we had been at workshop with the new building Focus all January.
Day1 was very nervous and we made a lot of mistakes, specially due to poor race notes. Handling of the car was difficult even if the weather was almost nice. A few of stones and trees could tell you about our white bumpers.
For Day2 we found little better setup. Car was very good to drive, but we missed the speed. Anyway we got our Focus to finish line in much better condition, then after day1.
There are no big expectations of points for this race, but we look forward to next snow rally and to new developed car."
Rat has finished the RALLY!
Day 1:
What a change in car makes! This new Toyota is very chuckable and fun! For the first 4 stages we were fast and set PB's on the way. BUT stage 5 we rolled and still made up some good time. In our haste getting out on the Rally proper, we only took in a light service, needing a top of Red Bull to keep us setting PB's all day! The last stages were a mix of slidng into walls, falling off the road and a wrong direction(WD) in town.
Overall it was a good day with happy mechanics, nothing major to fix!
Day 2:
Well we didnt set the day on fire. With the tyre choice being crucial and we were left with wet tarmacs to run with all day with a blizzard to go! Hit too many trees today. No grip and snow banks, not fun....Just trying to stay on the road is a battle, and finally got up to 120mph, we slid off the road into the frozen river! Hell fun and we missed everything, no damage. Then spun near the end of the stage. The last stage had us with no grip at all.
OK we went well on day 1 and just slid around making up the numbers on day 2. At least the Mechanics were happy with little damage to report compared to other years. C'mon Pawprint, keep it going lad!
Javier, you will have mail soon...
Reporter: "Tannat, it looks as if you found a drift or two on the superspecial.."
Tannat: "Yes. One day we will learn to take no chances on these things. I lost perhaps 4-5 seconds. I hope we will not regret it later."
Reporter: "And how was the final leg?"
Tannat: "We are quite pleased with our drive today. A last minute change in setup proved beneficial (Steering +5). We surpassed many of our times from last year, but not so much to be at the top."
Reporter: "What's the outlook for Sweden?"
Tannat: "For certain we will take much time to prepare for this rally. We are not at home on this type of surface, so an preparation should be of great help."
Reporter: "Thank you, Tannat. Cheers for a good finish."
Very nice! Must have taken ages to make..Quote:

I am sorry for this guys!
It was a very tough rally. We went very wide in Sweden, all the time, and continously interacted with snowbank. We also made some visits in huge ditches in in Italy, allthough I also set som PBs
The mechs changed the setup some in Sweden, after two stages, and then it was a little bit better, but we only gained 3-4 secs/stage.
it will be nice to drive Sweden with proper tires after this!
Also for the other half of Curtans RallyBase Motorsport it was a tough event.
Driver Kabouter explains: "The car was too nervous to get any kind of rhythm on the twisty first day stages. We were only able to push a little on the wider, more open sections of some stages. The slippery conditions during the second half of the day caused a few extra spins. In the end we were just happy to get through to the end. Then we screwed up the tyres for the second day. Without grip it was just sliding from one snowbank to another."
Kabouter was still upbeat about the rest of the season however: "The only way now is up! The next event will be the home event of our team founder and first driver Magnus and we are all terribly excited about competing there. We'll have to make sure to get the tyre choice correct this time though..."
Marcel,
Would love to see a video of you driving on any of the Sweden stages on wet tarmacs. I need to improve my technique.....
