Entries for last round of Finnish rally championship will close tonight. So far more than 70 crew have entered the rally that will take place in Kerava in Southern Finland. In 4WD class the championship will be decided between Juha Salo and Joonas Lindroos, former leading by a mere point. Salo have entered in Evo X R4 (first appearance of R4 in FRC) and Lindroos in TMR Impreza WRX (not sure if it's R4 or N4).
Also, FRC will see a second guest appearance from Jari-Matti Latvala in a zero car duty. He'll tackle the route - of course - in his Escort MkII.
Yesterday was the Amsterdam Rallypro Short Rally. Bernhard ten Brinke won with his Focus WRC in front of Huzink with his S12 and van Deijne in an Evo X R4.
They came to test for the Hellendoorn Rally in 2 weeks, where there will start 9 WRC's including Dennis Kuipers in his Ford Fiesta WRC and Peter van Merksteijn Jr in a C4 WRC.

Ott Tänak will start Saaremaa Ralli (7. -8.10.2011) behind the wheel of a Ford Focus. Dunno exact model yet (08 or 03).
very interesting news...will this be his first appearance in a WRC car ??
No, he drove Gross's Focus 03 in Arctic Lapland Rally 2 years ago. Retired due to technical reasons in SS4 if my memory serves me well.Quote:

Kruuda didnt start in Viljandi because Turan Crashed this MM-Motorsport Fiesta he was going to use there. They were looking for a another car.

Weather news ???
FRC Kerava is underway. After SS1 Salo leads, Nikara and Lindroos follows. Mikko Pajunen's pace on 4WD was left unseen as he retired for technical reason already.
Here a link to FRC Kerava results page: Tulossivu
After SS2: Salo, Nikara, Vihavainen, Tahko, Lindroos - all within 8,3 seconds.
FRC, Kerava: Nikara leading after SS5.
Results also from the Tenab´s site: Online2 valikko
In FRC under 2000cc, Vainionpää is showing good progress.
Nikara amazingly fast with "old" Evo IX proving again that he really deserves a shot at the top (I mean the real top, not the PWRC). But time is running fast...
Word from stages tells JML crashed his Escort. Apparently steering failed and drivers became passengers. I don't know more.
And looks like Salo is going to take his title - again.
Edit: JML crashed at SS1. Suspension arm failed on a straight, off to a ditch, hit the junction and rolled front-end.

And has to remember that Salo is driving Evo 10 R4. Same car as in the Neste Oil Rally. Of course he is aiming only to beat Lindroos and secure his 6th Finnish Championship title, but he wants always to win if possible.Quote:
