CRAIG BREEN AND STÉPHANE LEFEBVRE TO REPRESENT ABU DHABI TOTAL WRT IN POLAND

They have said that they wont (at this time) go down the super license route. But want to make an individual assessment of drivers allowed to drive 2017-cars.
This will off course be about 3rd and 4th drivers.
Will be interesting to see what happens in 18 and further on. 17 machinery is at one time going to be the cars privateers want to run, and its very unlikely M-Sport will continue to make 16 cars.
A Privateer Cup wont have longevity if they dont think of how they could introduce the 17 cars in to this. It could be done with different restrictor and passive diff?
But this is really only a M-Sport problem, because neither VW, Hyundai, Citroën or Toyota are likely to sell of WRC cars, and have done so until now only in very rear circumstances.
So the question is: What will Henning Solberg be allowed to drive?
He is not an official M-Sport WRC driver, he will not enter R5, and he would most possibly like to continoue in WRC after 2017.
M-Sport can register M-Sport and M-Sport II 3+3 cars
Having the drivers of four full manufacturer teams, plus M-Sport, I dont think there is really an issue for the fans in 2017. Compared to when we only had Ford & Citroen in the WRC just a few years ago, next year will have a great entry in terms of WRC numbers.
The issue for M-Sport will be financial in terms if selling/running additional 2017 WRC cars. But given their success with Fiesta R5 sales, they should still be able to continue.
"To provide the opportunity for more drivers to be nominated, from 2017 a Manufacturer will not be required to nominate the first driver in its team. Nominations will however still be required by the closing date of entries for each event."
Can anyone give an example of how this rule will make any difference at all to what we see next year?
