BTCC Models

I have just received my Giovanardi Vectra from Oxford Diecast and I was pleasantly surprised, the quality is just as good as the Onyx models used to be and at £10 it's great value. After comparing it to photos of the real car the rear spoiler looks the correct scale and the model is a good representation. So if you are thinking of buying this model I would recommend it and if enough people buy it then hopefully Oxford will make more BTCC models in future. It would be great if they did the 2001 Vauxhall Astra because there are so many versions that could be made.

I agree, the quality did pleasantly surprise me, shame the plinth lifts the car up and makes the ride height look all wrong. Hopefully VXR will sell it at its stand at the next meeting, as thats where the biggest market will be. At least Oxford are keeping with the BTCC and making the 2008 version.

I've ordered mine. Can't argue with £10 to add to my BTCC Vectra collection. :)

Have you noticed that not only are GPL selling theirs at £14.99, their postage is also more at £4.99?

Where Oxford are £9.95 and £2.95 postage!

Got mine. As you say, Not Minichamp qaulity, but not bad for a tenner!

Yeah GPL have been a bit naughty and not reduced their price to RRP. A quick e-mail to them resolved this for me though.

I saw the Vectra in a model shop today. Looked really good for a £9.99 model. Still think it looks like a saloon, but that's a minor detail.

Just seen on Grand Prix Legends they have all three 2008 Vectra's to pre-order, but they are priced at £14.99. Luckily GPL do a price match :) ! Can't wait for these after the quality of the 2007 Giovanardi Vectra. Surprised they haven't done a Tom Chilton version, seeing as it would only take a couple of decal changes.

Why do you feel the need to buy from GPL as their postage costs are really high? I think and if you see the models for £9.99 somwhere else just buy it from them.
I have been buying a lot from Trax and they even gave me free P&P just because I asked them. I have always regarded GPL to be the most expensive model shop about.

I was only pointing out the fact that GPL has the Vectra models to pre-order, as that might interest some. I'll buy mine from where it is the cheapest and most reliable. Trax don't even stock the Vectra's (from what I can see).

My one and only BTCC model is a Onyx '96 Will Hoy Laguna which I've had for years. Keep considering getting a few more but usually spend the money on beer or my real car :D

Been collecting for ab out 6 months

Did anyone else order the Vectra from Oxford Diecast directly? I ordered mine on June 7th, got an email saying they'd received the order, then never heard anything until the 16th when I got one saying my order had been processed. Taking aaaaaaaages. :s If I'd have known that, I'd have got one from ModelZone in MK last Thursday for £9.99.

Has anyone else noticed on ebay that the 1987 Trofeu BTCC Sierra has started appearing from foreign sellers? What suprises me is that it is the Win Percy car which won Silverstone and not Andy Rouse or Rob Hall car that was originally advertised. Does anyone know any more about this?

Mine took ages also, about 2 weeks I think. They also send it 2nd class post which doesn't help. You'd think they'd be quicker as they are direct?

I noticed this also, the model number for the Car is TR121, which GPL have in stock as the Win Percy Car, whilst Trax have it as a pre-order but the Rouse car, but both with the same model number???

I received this week in the post the latest catalogue from Diecast Legends, which had some pretty amazing stuff in it - entire 2008 F1 grid, DTM grid, A1GP cars, nascar, 2008 le mans aston martin - but......you could easily spend 1000's building up your collection at the moment and I'm trying desperately not to get sucked in...!

Got mine this morning. 2nd class post indeed. :down:

It's a good model in terms of the quality of the decals and it's solid. Ride height is a bit high and it still looks a wee bit like a saloon, but apart from that you can't complain for a tenner. Took some photos of it with the other 2007 BTCC model I have as a comparison and with a BTCC Cavalier and BTCC Vectra MKII! Will stick them up later.

Just finished a mod to the Giovanardi Vectra, added some Dunlop decals to the tyres, which finish the car off. Also once off the plinth the ride height does improve. Here's a piccy.

That really shows how much wider modern cars are compared to the counterparts from only a decade ago!

Found them at www.grandprixmodels.co.uk, looked under Decals, and typed in tyres. They are called Tyre Sidewall Markings Decals.

Anyone recognize this Volvo 760, what series or class did it race in?

I placed my order with a buy it now on eBay, still waiting for it to arrive after what has been about four days wait now. I also bought a Minichamps Sierra Cosworth, a DTM Biella car, cant wait for them to arrive.

Also when choosing which BTCC Sierra i found there was a chioce of driver, Win Percy or Rob Gravett for the same car. I went for the Win Percy version.

I have also added the 2007 Vectra to my collection, its a very nice model, but not Minichamps quality which is a shame, but for 9.99 you cant complain too much.

Which Gravett car have they done?

Robb Gravett did run an ICS machine in some races for RouseSport in 1988. Maybe it's that?

Well maybe it was an error by one of the sellers, but when i was choosing which ebay shop to buy from i came across the same model listed as driven by Gravett. Like i said though i bought the Percy model, which arrived today along with my brand spanking new 1989 DTM Sierra driven by Biela.

Minichamps are making loads of Biela cars at the moment so hopefully the Audi A4 from BTCC will be released to the public this time?!
