March 86C

1987 - I guess this was a backup car since it shows he raced an 87C....
You are Correct Chris. :up:Quote:

let's try this one - so what is going on in this picture?
year, track, and as many cars and drivers as you can figure out....
edit - oh, and sorry about the file name - I'll fix that next time I do an attachment.....
1964 Indy 500
An obsolete and ridiculous looking front-engined car leading a trio of rear-engined cars.
#1 - AJ Foyt (Watson-Offy)
outside front row - Jim Clark (Lotus-Ford)
#12 - Dan Gurney (Lotus-Ford)
#5 - Don Branson (Watson-Offy)
nope, well except for the front engine thing.... and that day it was not quite so obsolete....Quote:

keep digging - this one has an interesting story behind it....
1965
Foyt, Gurney, Andretti, Tinglestad (?)
Right year and I think the last driver is Don Branson instead of Tinglestead....
so how about the track? (I guess I forgot to say that it was not Indy) and the really odd thing the photo is showing...
Chris, I think the fourth driver is Lloyd Ruby.
that's it - my bad :s mokin:Quote:

you got it, the strange event is that Foyt is actually starting from the pole in his dirt track car after (I think) wrecking his Lotus in practice and having nothing else to race... talk about running what you brung!!Quote:

We'll leave the next turn with Nanders since I know alex knows where that one came from ;)
Since we are waiting fo a new photo. Here is one of the Parnelli VPJ1-Offenhauser before the Phoenix test. Hope you enjoy.

nice!! I have never seen that car in that configuration before... Goes to show just how much sdesign was seat of the pants in those days!!
Story goes that Parnelli Jones had a the press at Phoenix for the unveiling and Al Unser drove it first on track. He pulled back in and he was white as a ghost according to Mario. Unser then told them tell the press the car broke as it is junk and would not drive it again until it was changed. After the changes it was a competitive car in 1972.
Guys, Please go ahead and post a new one .... My resources are as short as my time.

ok, here a new one. something a little different.
where, when, driver of complete car.....
Danny O.
LBGP 1984, Paddock in the convention center
Cool photo, do you have more like that?
right year and car, wrong place.... check out those seats....
yes, I hove more of these - but they are not that great - I took them myself way back when....
I've spotter there in the background the pink body work of the WIT car the Emmo drove that season.
Maybe you could post your other photos somewhere else, I like those old shots.
yup, I see the body work - but Emmo didn't drive it in this race!!
I have a couple of others I'll use here in the near future and I'll try to scan some more in and post them to my photobucket account.... but like i said - they are pretty bad - it was rainy and I only had a 110 camera....
I agree about the old photos - anyone who has old self-done stuff don't be afraid to use it - even if they are not up to professional standards - they are still cool :)

Year- 1984

Meadowlands is the track!
Phoenix got it
You're up!
AM gave the first clue with the WIT body work in the stands. I wrote a small history on WIT for Motorsportpedia. That's how I knew what track it was.Quote:
