Strange .... maybe he (and probably PG and Salo also) misjudged that corner and its crest on the recce, it's like he got totally surprised when arrives there at top speed; totally out of the line. Too bad :S
And today´s jump record belongs to.. oil sheikh Khalid Al Qassimi:

A 50m jump in the Leustu stage. Fly Khalid fly.
Gigi´s incident from outside the car:

fastest lawnmover in the rally...
Thanks for the link Miika, looks like Gigi did indeed completely misjudged that corner. As did Salo and PG, too bad but thet's rallying, isn't it. :D
For once Villagra was on fire - literally:

No Sunday return for Galli
The Stobart VK M-Sport rally team has confirmed that Gigi Galli’s Ford Focus RS is too badly damaged to enable him to restart on Sunday under SupeRally rules.
Galli was in third place before the high speed accident, which happened 14.3 kilometres into stage 16, when the Italian misjudged his speed on a corner which also caught out his fellow WRC competitor P-G Andersson.
“It has been a bitterly disappointing end to the rally”, said Galli. “I was trying to keep our position against Sordo when the accident happened. My pace notes were slightly out and I ended up sliding into the ditch which caused the car to roll at high speed into the trees
Atkinson had 4th place here last year, so 3rd here would be a step up this time, he continues to do well. I am going to "assume that the C4 is a currently better performance" than the Subaru, they're on even time, so if Atko comes out top it will show his speeds. He has been shown capable with fighting for these small seconds.Quote:

After the last stages of today Loeb was heading back to Jyväskylä, apparently he missed a junction and drove slightly into a ditch. Spectators went and helped him out of there - and now they are deciding if everything went by the rules there. Cause if things haven´t change that much, the drivers are still not allowed to be helped by spectators in any way outside the stages. But I doubt anything happens..

Having said that, it is no different to what happened toPetter in Mexico 2004 or 05 when his car was pushed into service, he got 5 mins penalty then. If the spectators hadnt helped Loeb maybe he would have been late / damaged transmiision or something. From the photos it is plainly obvious that Loeb got outside assistance and according to the rulebook this is subject to a penalty.
Here you can find small video and picture about Loeb´s accident: http://ralliradio.yle.fi/node?page=5
And MJW: MSport does not need to appeal. If someone sends e-mail to organizers or organizer can find this picture or video on their own then they can held stewards meeting and decide what to do. It appears that Loeb was actually stuck on the drainage collector:-) If stewards can find this video or get any information then I cannot find any possibility that Loeb can escape from the penalty:-( Because stewards must act according to the rules. The right way for Loeb would have been going out from the car and tell to the spectators that they are not allowed to help them and they can handle it on their own. I think he knows that but probably he forgot it after such a long day and maybe because he was bit nervous because of what happened to him. Hopefully no one tells anything to the stewards :-) Dont want that rally to end this way:-)
Nice video that!!!
I do hope that the orgisers act to the full and dont wimp out otherwise the RALLY IS A FARCE!!

A crazy situation for Loeb to find himself in though, was it Richard Burns who retired on the Safari in 02 within sight of the service park but was bogged down and noone could help them?
i think there are definately faster Lawnmowers than this one....Quote:

But if you think a little, it is stupid mistake anyway:-) You are driving in full speed for 170km per day and then go off while driving on Sunday driving speed. If Loeb gets penalized for example with five minutes then He gets 6th place and Hirvonen wins chapionshipthen we can call that this year the championship was decided on road sections ;-) 10 points lost in Jordan.. on road section and 7 points lost in Finland.. on road section :-P
Did you not read what the other people said about tomi and petter? Although I don't have any bias feeling about this situation, my guess is nothing will happen.Quote:

BUT let's not start yelling "farce !" if any penalty happens, we should still remember the Portugal 2007 farce which costed Bosse title ... and also the engine change in the shakedown in one of the early rally (Mexico ? if I remember well) which was over the penalty line IMHO ...
Well, I did write to the organizers.)) Breaking the rules is breaking the rules.
It would be a farce if Loeb would get a penalty for this. WRC is allready almost dead but this kind of things could mean the complete end. Because if rally's are not decided any more on the stage's but before the "green table", or with stupid tactic games, then what is the idea about it. But, you are right, maybe this way the pathetic Ford-boys may have another title after all.Quote:

Also PWRC driver Gabor Mayer lost his licence for the rest of the year this year. Gabor was driving 60 km/h over the limit and was replaced by Tapio Suominen in this rally.
on the contrary. this photo is IMO no proof at all. because how can the Official FIA/WRC "judges" be 100% sure that this picture is taken on a road section during rally Finland 2008 and not somewhere else? How can they know that the pictures is not faked? If you gonna penalize a driver your evidence need to be 100% reliable. Hypothetically this photo could have been taken anywhere.Quote:

If the car didn't stop In a SS, then these people aren't assisting IN a SS, so that leaves transits.
It would be a pity if he was excluded but rules are rules even when they're stupid.
I like Loeb and wish him well but he seems to not be paying near enough attention on transits.
Damn you type faster than I do at 23.38. 8)Quote:

Back to rallying, stage 22 is running now. Even if penalty will happen, I think Loeb will win this one by virtue of speed. He's unstoppable.
Well, Safari did not have stages but competitive sections. I do not recall outright if that was on CS or not but spectator help was negligible, even so that Clerk of the Course went on to state for the record that he didn't know "if it was outside assistance or more of a outside hindrance", yet Tommi was excluded.Quote:

I would like to hear Gronholm's comments on the outcome of rally Finland...
