Portugal will be in too.
Corsica was a bit failiure last year with extreme floods, very small number of spectators (expensive for them as well), quite ok number of entrants but very expensive to take part for bigger teams. I remember that one team compared that total costs were very similar to Mexico (including long trip)! I think they have the biggest risk to loose their round. Poland is good location, big market and it is between north, east south and west, so quite easy to reach for everyone. And prices are also very good:)
Don't understand some people have a go on Sardegna,Poland, Corsica or Catalunya. It's the same every year and those are some of good if not best rallies in calendar. What's wrong with Sardegna? All teams go there many times a year for testing, same as Catalunya, rallies are great, easy access to interesting spots, no extra cost for rally passes. Guess those complaining never been to those rallies.
When people talk about dropping Sardinia or Corsica it's not that they personally dislike the rally. The promoter prefers rallies on the mainland because of easier access and costs. The number of spectators on the island rallies is comparatively low to mainland rallies.
In the end they have to strike a balance between the traditional rallies and new rallies with financial interests. The world and context changes so the sport has to adapt, the only question is how well it does that so we have good rallies in the future.
I got that but forum members are not promoters to complain especially most of them don't go there so rallies could be hold on the Moon or sun from this point of view. Sardinia is always very popular and crowded, cost wise cheaper than Wales or Sweden, logistic is far easier than Monte Carlo.
Clearly the UK is an Island too, when it comes to spectators on Wales Rally GB. In Sardinia there's a relatively large crowd, but still small enough to keep it more or less under control, both on and outside the stages. I wonder if they could organize a WRC event on mainland Italy without big issues regarding safety or traffic...
http://www.autosport.com/news/report...der-rule-talks on June 24th in the next WSMC meeting in Turin. BTW they will also (probably) talk about the calendar for next year, so you can all calm yourself's down for now...
It's funny, I've been to Rally Poland once in 2015, and going again in a few weeks and don't want it in the calendar :D
