I looked at the rules, it's ambiguous indeed, seems they took quite some liberty when interpreting: https://www.dakar.com/en/the-competi...ion/regulation
At T1P1 they say older wider cars are allowed if they are not in a team associated with a manufacturer. Then at T2P1 they have a list of elite drivers, including Loeb. Seems they considered Loeb as a "works" driver so they didn't allow him the wider Maxi spec.
So it's true. Thank you for clearing that up.
nice interview with Loeb during the test comparing the i20 and C3 https://translate.google.ee/translat...sez-joueuse%2F

On the subject of roc, does anyone know what the event was called that pre dated roc? I remember as a lad going to brands hatch, where they had a similar event but can't for the life of me remember what they used to call it. I think they used to televise it and show it on grandstand, or world of sport. I think the event I went to was circa 1987 and they used Toyota Supra rally cars, and mr2's + others. Can't remember many drivers competing, but think Brundle was there, definitely Derek Warwick, Stig Blomquist, and Juha Kankunnen
