From what I read on a French forum, the situation was a long straight with eventually a crossroads where the drivers had to do a sharp right. The fatal car for some reason missed his braking point and went straight on at 150 kph. I don't know how big the safety zone behind the corner was, but obviously not big enough...
According to some stories, before the start of the stage the fatal driver warned the competitors coming after him that he had brakingproblems. Perhaps that is why they are investigating him.

Imo spectators are wau to close and also in what normally should have been a prohibited area.

This coming week-end 4th event of the french gravel rallies championship, held in Spain(Rally Terra Catalunya) ;)

Most probably you're right. Frenchmen corrupt everything they can put their hands on. WRC, Dakar, FIFA, UEFA...

SS1 Catalunya was cancelled because lack of safety material(or people ??) :s

Nice time from Karl-Friedrich Beck on SS3(6th best time overall, second of the Volant)and he comes back to the 7th place of the cup :bounce:

We would be about to see the Volant Peugeot 207 drivers winning the 2WDs but also possibly finishing on podium(Blanc was 4th overall after SS4) :eek:

It's confirmed now that Freddy Loix will drive the whale in two weeks at the Rallye des Vins de Mâcon(next tarmac championship round)instead of Stéphane Sarrazin(running the 24 Hours of Le Mans) ;)
