Having fun, and doing what makes you happy should be something everyone should aim for.
If that is using your own money to drive a rally1 car, why the heck not?
The only reason it's a "problem" is due to the lack of seats in the top class. It's not like we didn't have multiple Serderidis' back in the "golden days". The 2000 season is a year with a fair amount of rides. 10 full time cars, loads of part time factory cars. 24 A8 cars at Monte. Almost 1hr40 min after Mäkinen was the slowest A8 - beaten by all classes except N1. Granted, it was an older car, but you could find an Impreza 1998 barely inside the top 40, just like the slowest Group A/WRC car, he was there due to pace, not issues. Same in Sweden, WRC cars in the last half of the results, due to pace.
If you go through any WRC event in 2000, you are (almost) hitting a rally where you have one or more top class car(s) way down the field due to a lack of pace. I can't understand that a driver can, after multiple stages in a top-class car, being behind a Group N1 car (we are talking Renault 4, Rover Mini Cooper etc.), even after a day it was the same. I am sure they had fun doing so though.
There has always, and will always be slow people with money who wants to have fun, why not appreciate that rally is a place where this can be done. There are less and less chances for these things in motorsport sadly. And if said slow people, also financially support other driver(s), what's the issue? Want to get rid of more drivers as well?
Serderidis is a symptom. Removing the symptom doesn't cure the reason for the symptom showing.
everything you wrote is correct! even in almost every national championship there a rich guys with not sooo much talent in good and very good cars! all good!
BUT why the whole world have to see this in live stream??? they show Serderidis as he is crawling through the stage, not even pushes the gas on long straights and they dont show us Gryazin who flies trough the stages!
And this getting worse, tomorrow he will be almost sure the FIRST car on the road and gets the full audience, he gets more wrc live time than the best in the world and that is not ok....he should get the starting position he deserves, he can have his fun also as last car on the road
Oh I see we have someone moderating this forum, good! ;)
Ogier risking with five Pirellis. And bluuford has given instructions for M-Sport to use only softs?
Ogier with one spare...spicy
Is it just me or Tänak seems to be so cautious?
M-Sport clearly gambled on Super Softs not making it. They were gonna lose some time early on. We ll see if their strategy is right and they can make up the time as the day progresses.
Loubet on great pace
Lappi “The cars are the same” doing great so far
I like the guy a lot but he is always digging a grave for himself with this sayings
Like last summer he said “I’ll be rather at home then at Hyundai “
Loubet doing great
On Tänaks pace
Wondering if they didnt have a better picture of Alexandre :D Attachment 2367
Looking straight into my soul
The divide between the "A" listers (Ogier, Rovanpera, Neuville, Tanak, Evans) and the rest has never been more pronounced.
There are drivers who can live with them on the odd stage or stages, but when it comes to stringing a whole load of times you can't fail but notice there is a clear trend. Dani Sordo looks sadly way past it making me wonder whether he is really the better option when compared to Craig Breen. Katsuta and Loubet are showing great promise, and may very well get there, but for now it's the top five in command.
Fourmaux slower from Ingram,Cais,Bulacia,Lopez...
Tanak was a "B" lister at Hyundai often enough.
Evans at Toyota most of last year.
Ogier and Neuville have a long list of weak Finlad/Estonia type rallies.
So the "divide" might be clear on a single rally or two but over more rallies its not the same.
---------------
Sordo dropped a lot in pace with Rally1s last year, was surprising he actually went for more starts this year rather than retiring. But at least he can finish the rallly at decent pace (which got him podiums last year), hard to argue that Breen with 5 crashes in 6 starts is the better option. He might but at this point it is extremely uncertain card.
Delay?
Nice time by Solberg on SS3, begins his fightback.
Where did the studs come from? lol
Bumper cam so much better than wonky dash cam.
i see sun at stage.Lets see how they will cope the superofts
