There were no mild stages...lol. But on other events would agree with you. I've never been to an organised spectator stage (and never will), but get your point.

Really enjoyed the event. Zoned in on some jumps and saw some nice action. A bit of prior planning goes a long way. Otherwise you just end up stuck at uninspiring junctions. As was discussed earlier - what the top WRC guys would do on these stages would be absolutely mindblowing.
That said I really don't think pushing for WRC inclusion is the right road to go down. The organisers are dreaming if they think they can achieve the same size of entry list under WRC regs. With the new cars they'd have to install even more chicanes to keep the speeds manageable.
Photos up tomorrow or Tuesday hopefully.

Motorsport News have to change their cover. The best drivers of CoI are here :)

I don't think that their cover was too far off tbf, allowing for the fact that they would always look to promote the BRC and homegrown talent. Breen was a cut above but Evans was quick too and but for his problems on Friday you have to wonder how he might of done (from what I can tell he had 6 stage wins). Likewise Cronin is obviously quick on tarmac, has knowledge of the roads and you have to say was in the mix. OTOH Kajto is a fast driver but didn't have the local knowledge/experience of Irish tarmac like the others, in fact I suspect he surprised a lot of people with how close to Breen he was.
Breen's run through SS3 now on his Facebook...it's quick.
I'm not trying to take anything away from Katjo, he put in a very fine performance, but he did have some knowledge of the Saturday stages from last year, Cronin had never done them and hadn't been on the 1st day stages for a several years. Katjo may have surprised people last year, I know I was very impressed with his speed, but anyone paying attention last year would have known to expect him to be right up there this year.
Picture from Rřklands crash, the line in the tarmac is from the wheelhub. So his bolts actually brokes off in this accident. Lots of damages on the car, most shurely a chassiswap.

Yes, bad luck for this private team from Norway to lose all 4 bolts of the wheel and crash so heavily. Rokland says he was the fastest JERC driver on this stage until this moment. He needs additional budget now to continue the season. Good luck to him.
Here is the whole stage recorded on Rokland's onboard camera. He seems to be much faster than the Mitsubishi in front of him.

Yes, he is even faster on gravel and snow too.
He is regular top5 in the norwegian championship on the total lists, beating R5's, N4's and M3's in his shoppingbag.
He has a fantastic "attack" in his driving, crazy fast on gravel. Really hopes he get the budget together!

Here's Wojciech Chuchala and his Subaru, the winners of every single stage in group N in this rally. Watch it if you want to know how to do it :)

Jaromír Tarabus and Daniel Trunkát in their press release praised the organization of CoI as absolutely perfect in terms of both the route and organization.
A beautiful picture from Ireland...

Watching the tv pictures I've never seen fans in Ireland kept so far back from the roads...
Greater safety of course but seems to lack the atmosphere of old.
Maybe the very poor weather had an effect this year though... some horrible conditions for 'Spring time'.
It was fine if you kept away from the main spectator areas, which never really interest me any way. We could walk down the road and pic our own spot on every stage. We got 3 stages on Friday and 4 on Saturday. It was an incredible rally!
Now Pieniazek can officially change the background photo on his Facebook profile :)

Like Nelly said there was still scope to walk into the stages - providing you didn't get there last-minute. I thought around the spectator areas there was a lot of unnecessary taping and I think that's only going to get worse by the sounds of new guidelines coming from the MSA. There was absolutely nothing to see at some of those junctions. So it will definitely be a case of people trying harder to steer clear of spectator areas. And like you say there is a feeling of playing hide and seek at times. Or being told to move and then moving back. A lot still depends on the mentality of the marshal too.
My Circuit of Ireland photos if anyone is interested.

Reasonably happy with how they came out.
Usual superb high quality video highlights from Flyin Finn Motorsport, a lot of action and offs featured, didn't realise Ahlin's and Blomberg's was so bad:

That place where Ahlin crashed is very nice!
