Some states were still dealing with the aftermath of the first cold snap. In Atlantic, Iowa, a record set in 1958 was broken when the temperature dropped to minus 29 degrees Monday, according to the National Weather Service.

I forgot on which thread we discussed Americans renouncing their citizenship for tax reasons. Here's an interesting update with some stats, too.

The same mathematical formula makes my shoe size 20.

Labor says it opposes the privatisation plan because it will lead to a reduction in annual dividends to the government from the electricity businesses and price rises.
Mr Baird has said he anticipates earning around $13 billion from the transaction. A further $2 billion is expected in incentive payments from the federal government. The government says it can earn $5 billion in interest to bring the total to $20 billion.
- Sydney Morning Herald, 9th Feb 2015
If the Liberal Party is returned to government in the March NSW state election, they intend to privatise the state's electricity companies despite them being profitable.
Personally I think that this is an idiotic proposal as they return around $2.5bn in dividends a year to the state's coffers, which means that that's taxation which they don't need to ask for.
I've always thought that privatisation is tantamount to theft.
Had a discussion with someone about Haas Automation last evening, which led me to look at the goings on with Haas F1, which led me to think about Haas' early involvement in motorsports, which led me to look up PacWest Racing, which led me to go to Ebay and find some vintage CART gear, which led me to think about all the cool and interesting people I've met in person or online over the years because of our common CART (or general racing) fandom and how if you're going to look back at something that is no more, think of the good times. Don't dwell on the negatives. Think about how any day above ground can be a good day, if you make it so... if you let it be so.
Just heard Aerosmith's Dream On playing on the radio. Listened to the words very carefully. It made me think. It made me feel lucky to be alive and well.
I feel good today. I feel damn good. And I hope each and every one of you feels damn good too. :)
That's what's on my mind today.
