Well, I thought Real was ready to challenge Barca this year the way they have jumped out, but no, Barca's still in their heads.
I had to record the game and I just saw it without knowing the final score beforehand (nor venturing into this thread) - and it was well worth it. :)
Donks - enjoy your fish pie. :D
Bravo Barca!!!!
:s mokin:
Yes! :D Well worth staying up till 0430!
I can't believe how well Cesc has fit in (yes he is an ex academy but still) plus he has brought a weapon from the English league...his heading ability and Alves is fantastic...only sore point is why Villa did not start. I think he may be off next season.
Real and Mou got what they deserved (again) :D

Villa did not start because Alexis is a lot better believe me ;)Quote:

corrupt to the core and look who would benefit - surprise surprise wonder how big a bung Taggart gave them this time?
As a Man Utd fan I would obviously be delighted if we were re-instated into the competion at the expense of FC Basle. But I don't really see why Bayern Munich can't be given a bye into the round.Quote:

Watched Barca play Santos yesterday and win the world club cup again.
I have watched most Barcelona games for the last 2 or 3 years, but they still seem to be at their high level.
Messi was in the mood also and drove Barcelona on with a real ruthless streak. could have been 6 or 7-0.
Is it that Barca is that good? or is it that the competition is just mediocre?
I fortunately have seen some very good games where Barca actually gets some competition and it is so much fun to watch.
I for one, as a life long soccer/football fan will attest that I don't miss a single Barcelona game (thanks to GolTV and Fox Sports)because it is a fact that we are watching a very, very good football team that has amazing players topped by Messi and the rest of his brilliant team mates and coaching staff.
I hope that my fellow forum members that are engrossed in their own national football competitions have had the time to also witness this great Barcelona team. . .
. . . And of course witnessing and enjoying that magical Messi.

In '09 Barca became the Spanish first club to win the Treble and later the only club in history to win a Sextuple. That's the Copa Del Rey, La Liga, Champions League, Supercopa de España, UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup.Quote:

Tottenham miss out on the chance to catch the top two. I think the league is between the two Manchester teams.
This thread is very quiet, has everyone stopped watching football? It was F.A Cup weekend, Man City and Man Utd had a thriller. Kompany shouldn't have seen red but it seems tackling isn't allowed anymore. Man Utd took full advantage of their one-man advantage in the 1st half and scored 3. But somehow City clawed 2 back in the second half to make it a nail-biting finish.
And Paul Scholes returns. WTF?
Whats the score at the Emirates stadium going to be tonight then ?Arsenal 4 Leeds 1 OR will Leeds hold then to a 1-0 result ?
I am here  and still watching football but I did change channel after Kompany was sent off. That was one of the worst decision taken by a referee have experienced in footbal, the idiot ruined what could've been a great exciting and fair match between the best sides of PL.
The most telling thing to me about Kompany being sent off, was the fact that Nani, who usually goes down to the ground with the slightest breeze, was trying to win the ball back, that's how clean the steal was. I was glad to see Scholes back, IIRC, Ferguson asked him not to retire last year, that said, I thought him coming on almost gave the game back to City, because he gave away the pass that led to Agüero's goal.
If soccer was a little more liberal in their substitution policies, you'd have a lot more guys extend careers, they can still do it, but maybe just not at a high level for the full 90 minutes.
And Henry wins it for Arsenal!
His legs don't work anymore but he is still lethal in-front of goal.
Help me out here:

Is the player that scored the goal not offsides? He came from completely behind the keeper to steal it and score.
No. To be offside the ball would have to be played forward by a member of his own team.
Goals like that happen every now and then, one of Exeters old keepers was caught out like that while playing for a previous club and from then on would always do a little spin before putting the ball down
If you go to Marca.com
MARCA.com
you will find a montage of these instances called:
"El gol del delantero invisible"
http://media.gizmodo.co.uk/wp-conten...offside50p.jpg
A player is offside if there's nearer to his opponents' goal line than both the ball and the second last opponent. Being offside of itself is not an offence.
The offence is only penalised if when the ball is played by someone from his own team, he gets an advantage. That usually means being forward of the second last player when his own teammate passes the ball forwards.
Thanks to all, so somebody made a coin explaining the offside rule? Wow!
Yup, and they also seem to have put on a crude picture of Lisa Simpson giving fellatio...which is way not cool.Quote:

I was reading from a website lately that gave the crowds at different leagues throughout Europe. The Bundesliga won hands down. They get great crowds in all their divisions primarily the top flight of course. If I find the link I will post it.
One final comment/question. When I was really young I was a huge Chelsea fan. The era of the UEFA cup and FA CUP (When it was great). Any other fans out there that supported Osgood, Tambling, Webb, Chopper Harris, Hutchinson, Hudson, Bonnetti (the Cat) and others? I'd love to hear. I believe some of these men died. They could only be in their sixties, but many are gone.
Sad.
you will now find it here (it is amazing how many times this embarrassing situation happens)Quote:

The Bundesliga gets high attendances because they still have terracing and cheap tickets.Quote:
