I don’t know what kind of driver Ogier is as a test driver but at least he has a good reference point. Can Ogier give the feedback needed to the engineers and can the engineers convert the feedback to setups in a WRC car. They have a lot of experience in Dakar but that could still be a little bit different.
Some time ago Marcus Grönholm told in an interview with “Vauhdin Maailma” that Francois-Xavier Demaison had arranged a test for him with the Polo to have his opinion about the Polo but that didn’t happen due to Marcus accident in Los Angeles.
Probably Senor "El Matador" knows best these things.

VW suggested not being in the pace at this moment (which I´m sure many of us did believe they were) I think it´s important for Mr Wilson to put up the strongest line of drivers. That includes both Ostberg and Petter. That would really speed up the excitement for 2013!
Kubica confirmed his WRC future in interview today.
Something concrete would be interesting, ERC I hope. Don't think he would do WRC, he's a guy who's starting to win but in WRC he's realistic enough to know he won't do that there.
