agreed....looked really lazy compared to Puma test last week
but its testing, we dont know what they were aiming

To me it looked like the electric engine either wasn't on or wasn't properly synchronized with the petrol engine in 3/4 of the hairpin passes. The car turns and then there is a lul before power comes.
Might be that they are also testing different ways (programs) to use the hybrid.
Fourmaux mentioned in the recent interview that FIA hasn't decided on when and how it will be used and wants to make it as unpredictable as possible. That sounds like a really bad idea to me.
The basics rules on when and how it can be used should be decided as soon as possible cause they likely can affect tons of other areas of the car and need much more testing to fine-tune.
At the same time there likely needs to be some strict rules so it doesn't turn into "programmers competition". (at one point some team mentioned they could program when it will be used individually for each stage based on corners/profile ++, that sounds like a recipe for cost explosion.)

But as a programmer myself, I want to get involved in the race ;) But seriously, engine and diff mappings are probably also very crucial at the moment, I doubt it will be more complicated than that. And developing software is cheaper than developing mechanical parts.
And when the first news came in about electric boost, my first thought was how great sporting aspect it could be, something to show on the telemetry on TV and compare driver strategies, but for some reason that's not going to happen.
