I completely agree. We will see what will stewards do with SS 12. But for me is crazy that they were still starting new cars to the stage, where some drivers were going slowly after stopping on accident place.

What time will has Ostberg on this special: +7min or +10min to the Neuville time?
Reminds me ten years ago small event in Estonia when I was spectating with my oldest child. Just before last few cars it started to rain heavily and I ran to my car, that was parked behind bushes. So, we put seatbelts on and drove to the access road of the stage (we decided to go along the stage as the roudtrip was over 25 km longer). Suddenly marshals put the tapes down and I followed two cars to the stage. I didnt see road closing car and I assumed it passed while I was behind bushes. So, 100 m later, those two cars turned to one house. I drove on quite fast and all access roads were still closed. So, a few km before the end was the point where I had to turn off the stage.. but marshals told that road is still closed and I cannot get off :P So, I decided to drive even faster, not to be get cought by last cars.. but 500 meters before the end I cought one competition car and they asked me to pass as they were moving slowly with technical problem.. Stage end marshal and timekeepers were quite confused when they discovered that I was not stopping :P Luckily everything went OK. But it sounds very similar here, some are driving to shop, some are competeing..
if they finish as they are, Sordo (who can finish his 4th rally 4th) will be 3rd in the championship....just shows you what consistency gives you, if he would have had podium finishes to go along with it...shame
That's not the question. Even if all who were shown SOS stopped there was still a lot of others behind them who kept racing because there was no SOS for them and therefore caught the others ahead of them in stage. There was no yellow flag. That's crazy situation and IMO very stupid from the organization.
so I presume Ostberg is out of the rally or super-rally/rally2 for him tomorrow?
What happened to Ostberg?
If the engine is Ok, then Rally 2, that means +10 minutes to his time.
Regarding the SOS sign, as far as I can understand, Only three or four (Sunninen, Kopecky and Fuchs and maybe Scandola) WRC2 drivers were shown this SOS sign. So, Kruuda won the stage and I think that it would be fair if those who were shown SOS get Kruudas time, others were not affected (Well, Scandola retired, Lappi retired, Aasen punctured etc. I am not sure but maybe Kremer also lost some tiemdue to driving behind Kopecky?
Nice battle for the lead. Great to see Neuville returning to form.
Amazing 1st leg show from Scandola. It’s a pity he couldn’t carry on.
Btw, Lappi’s retirement was due to mechanical (suspension?) failure, after a strong impact on a hole.
Esapekka Lappi Rally @EsapekkaLappi 49 minhá 49 minutos
Rough Sardinia roads... An impact with one of the famous holes caused too much damage on the car, and we could not fix it. Rally2 tomorrow.
Someone inside Skoda was too fast tweeting he had an off (that tweet has already been erased).
What does it change on the fact that what they created on Monte Lerno 1 was stupid and dangerous hazard with chaos on such a long stage? Also giving notional times many hours later creates a situation when nobody knows on which place he actually is and with whom he fights. That is just crazy. They had several hours after Monte Lerno 1 to solve the situation before next loop started but they did nothing. The last point is that only God knows which times they'll give but what is sure is that notional times are never fair, especially in WRC event we've seen often complete madness in them.
I'd assumed for this it would be fairly simple. It's not like the Portugal/Paddon situation. Apart from Kruuda it seems like the entire WRC2 field were held up by the situation.
If say everyone got Kruuda's time then maybe the only person who would have benefited would have been Aasen (who finished with issues). But he's retired anyway so that's no longer an issue.
Yeah, yeah, chaos, stupidity, hazard and craziness everywhere and every time. Chill out, if a driver cannot fight and drive fast because he doesn't know if he's first, third or sixth then this sport is not for him. We need strong characters, who don't cry at everything that is temporary out of order. And it's not the fault of organizers that Bertelli had a crash that required medical attention and they need to give notional times. So how about you concentrate instead on good things and just have some fun?
Mads and Ola had to break Rally Sardinia on today's final leg, just 2 km before the finish.
"We hit a rock that broke a drive shaft front," said Mads. "It happened over a" crest "in a veibytte, with a fence on" Innern. " I'm not really quite sure what we met when I see inboard, other than that it was hard. We came forward with rear-wheel drive, but right before the finish the car stopped completely. The loose shaft has damaged one or other of the motor, and it was just to park. "
Up to this was Mads and Ola in the fight for the podium, and there is a disappointed Mads, who continues: "This was properly sour. We've resolved the issues that have slowed us earlier this year before this race and we had a car which worked out perfectly. Then we are ready to fight for the top times again and the fight for a podium place in the race. We would have liked to been in the fight until the goal. But that's it, and that's the game. Very rough roads here, but it's whatever I like sitting at the wheel who are responsible. "
It is not clear whether Mads and Ola can start again tomorrow. But with an engine that is not running, so it is doubtful. The team manages the incredible when it comes to repairing cars in record time, but the damage to the engine, there are strict restrictions on what they are allowed to change. The decision on it will be taken when the vehicle returns to service.

Qilbert was loosing a lot of time before that already, but he is nearly one hour behind anyway, so, 20 minutes behind competitor in front
Maurin was driving with normal speed
Kremer was loosing ca 20 seconds before he was affected by slower drivers and lost 1:18 by the end of stage, but in his case only question is if he is in front of Maurin or not.
So, we should have
1. Sunninen leading
2. Fuchs second around 1minute behind
3. Kopecky third, around 25 sec behind Fuchs
4. Kruuda three minutes behind Kopecky
5. Kremer over minute behind Kruuda
6. Maurin, 2 minutes behind Kremer
Very precise calculation ;)
Nobody said that Bertelli's crash was organizer's fault. However they didn't manage the situation right and created further risk and problems for many other crews. That is whatever but anything to cheer about.
And please spare me talking about how every driver must maintain all the time 100% attack. That's nonsense and I am sure You are aware of that.
You know why am I critical? Because every stupid national event in here has very precise plan for these situation which has been many times executed. Why is that not possible on WRC level? After the Paddon's accident in Portugal it's second such ill-handled situation in two consecutive events.
The withdrawal of Umberto Scandola confirmed
"Though we had decided to take a quiet step and hard tires to avoid the risk of abnormal wear, we paid suffered a slow puncture in ps .10 that made us lose more than a minute. in the long Monte Lerno we found ourselves without water. it is cut lower radiator hose, perhaps ruined by a stone. we tried 2/3 times to stop and fill up with ' water that had Guido, but the engine remained dry and soon took a warmed. Expect the car to the park in the late afternoon and then we will evaluate with the engineer what to do. " This upgrade Skoda Motorsport Italy, but on the question of whether they think they start tomorrow, the sad faces leaving little hope.
the car is in park and the team has 3 hours to put it back "running" to return tomorrow. There was a consultation with Skoda engineers to see if the engine suffered from a lack of cooling, all caused by a microscopic hole on a sleeve.
Unfortunately update comes the confirmation by Skoda Motorsport Italy: there is no guarantee that by continuing it can not damage the engine, so the choice is forced: the Rally of Italy Sardinia for Umberto Scandola and Guido D'Amore end here, but l ' applause is a must and leadership in WRC2 after the second day of competition is not cleared. Well done !!

so guys what do you think? Can Latvala catch Neuville tomorrow? 16,1 sec for 40,26 km
He can, but would he? Neuville has nothing to lose, he is last from factory drivers, so guess will fight off any opposition possible.
Alright, picture time... what a day!
First, a melting hot Monte Lerno in the morning.

no decisions yet about wrc2 ? is it so difficult?
New times for SS 12 are ready - http://rally-base.com/2016/rally-ita...016/?ssId=3532
Looks like they've given everyone times now. Suninen fastest. Gaps back to him based on the afternoon run of the stage which is what they were probably waiting for.

It's done now. As I expected they gave notional times based on the second run through the stage. Which means that Fuchs lost his second place to Kopecký who was given a time nearly half a minute better than him.
Despite I'm an obvious fan of Kopecký I have to say I don't agree with this way of making notional times. It shall be done as someone (Simmi?) suggest - all shall have same time of Kruuda and it would be more fair than this.

This is the tiny hole that left Scandola at home.
