Tanaks crash from another angle

wtf .. theres really nothing Tänak could have done different to avoid this. Just a huge hole with a rock in there, massive impact with it.
Such a shame .. thinking that, spectators should have been even warning him or something, considering that theres Paddons car in flames also ..
This is the second time Hayden has been in an incident where the car has burnt out. Back when he was only 18 his Evo 4 also caught fire at a local NZ rally.

Is there any photo/video of Ogier at the same place as Paddon's/ Tanak's accidents.
Is the VW shock absorber valving different to Hyundai? Does the VW - motor have more torque and better brakes so Ogier does not have to take as bigger cuts?
Thisis not excuse. Forrest fire in such bushes=stop immediately all kind of traffic way before incident. That mean not just yellow flag. If you look heli footage form Tänak scene, it does not look like controlled fire. Such things can go out of control very easily in seconds. What I want to say is that theys should lear from it not to repeat such a horror movie thing.
Look at Ostber on the same spot: https://twitter.com/romps22/status/733761504089153537
He passed the scene 2 minutes later and there is a big smoke already. That means, Mikkelsen+4 minutes, Sordo +6 minutes, Latvala +8 minutes, Tänak +10 minutes.. until Prokop +18 minutes all passed this spot in competitive mode
And spectators in spot tell that Ogier was saved by the fact that he was cutting more, that lifted all his fou feels in air and maybe also superior VW suspension helped to saved him.
Kopecky will restart today.
Stupid and frustrating to have to retire without any technical problem or accident.
Why Kopecky retired then?
I'll take my words back about Paddon and Tänak like it was a driving mistakes by both. Not their fault at all IMO.
I was just wondering as Pluto did.. Ostberg drives by, 1/5th of Hyundai is on the road, lines go off the road and black smoke is coming from the spot. Seems like all is perfectly Ok?
This is why I keen on the introduction of some kind of yellow onboard flag system. What happened to that project of a screen inside the car showing a yellow sign on all cars at the same time. I remember it was talked a few years back but have they abandoned it? This would stop such behavior, all cars have the warning at the same time and those who dont stop at crash scenes are disqualified/penalized.

The Rally Safe system does have a warning system. The Dakar system when it is working is effective too.

This is why Hayden Paddon will be a great WRC driver, and hopefully world champion:
Thanks everyone for all the messages of support - we have the best fans through the good and the bad times! A lot of homework and study has already taken place to learn from this and to start preparing for Sardenia. This video clearly shows how the car jumped out of the rut and what I have to learn from this is how to indentify developing rough sections of stages from the recce when the road is undamaged. So lessons learnt and will make sure I don't make this mistake again. In the meantime the team is in a good position with Dani and Thierry going strong so lets hope for a good result. On a more positive note - its an honour yesterday we were awarded South Canterbury sports person of the year - big thanks to everyone at home and sorry we couldn't make it.
Spot the difference between him and the "unlucky" guys...
Μikkelsen targets Sordo ,faster at 1st split
We are using similar system with yellow flag in Czech successfully. But I know how people with experience from WRC and some officials were aware last year on Barum Rally, when they have seen it for first time. So for some of them we have made "test" during free practice or shakedown and they were surprised it is working...
The point is that in every local event, even in ERC, crews are used to stop at the spot of accidents where things obviously aren't all ok to check what happened and possibly help. On the other hand in WRC we have seen a lot of times in the past that nobody cares. For example when Prokop's car burnt two years a go in Germany everybody just passed around even when the co-driver tried to stop them. The sport is one thing but the lifes, possible forest fires etc. are way more important than any sporting result.
Ostberg seems to be getting slower. 21 secs off Mikkelsen over 18 km? Problems?
In WRC, this is usual that everybody takes care only about themselves and dont stop at the place of accident. And they are learning them to do it this way, unfortunately. We had issue with this type of problem with Pontus on Rallye Sumava, where he didnt respect what is usual (out of WRC) and didnt followed what is written in rules (also in WRC). Thats why he received cash penalty and I hope that he has learned something for future...
Lefebvre stopped at 4,2 km
edit broken suspension,retired

Camilli same time with Mikkelsen.

Good time from Camilli. Hope this shuts the Ostberg excuses about Ford being shait.
Very good time by Camilli. Hope he can keep it on the road with the same speed.

I had a discussion about Cammili with Henning Solberg, and I have also defended him on this forum, because I have meant that he has great potential. I am not saying that one single good stage time is the same as becoming a World Champion, but remember - he started rallying just a few years ago.
Great to see this stage time from him, and Malcolm Wilson should take a large part of the honour for believing in him.
Yep nice work from Camilli. Let's see what he can do in the next few rallies and see if he can flash more pace. Something Evans rarely did.
