Tidemand fastest among WRC2/R5 class...
(Yes, I know he drove RRC in Sweden)
Kruuda with R5 was clearly faster on most of the stages and without being slowed down by Foulon he could have been even ahead of Al Attiyah and Al Rahji who are ahead of Tidemand. Let's be fair.
Seems that Ott and Dani gambled with soft tyres for the last two stages (bearing in mind the fact that there were only two stages). So, I belive they do not need to use softs anymore.
Tänak at stage end

May be Kruuda could be faster on all stages, may be not. It is rally after all, I expected more from Lappi though
Tänak finally starting to show what he is capable of, been waiting for it the last two rallies. Shame about Evans and Kruuda, he should be given the time back!
Malcolm still fancing Neuville? :p
Come on, it's You who search for excuses. Tidemand (or his car) was much slower than Kruuda when Kruuda had his fate in his own hands. He lost all the time in one stage behind a slower car. Don't tell me it was his mistake
Anyway Tidemand is way behind the gulf guys. If You think that it's some kind of achievement, I don't. And I don't say he must be slower driver than them. It may be the car...
Both Lappi and Tidemand had some technical problems. It's hard to say how much that affected them though (with Lappi definitely more than by one minute lost). Also after I saw the Fabia R5 shakedown videos I'm far from believing that the car setup is right.
Foulon is French gr.N driver who for some very weird reason starts among R5 crews although he is way slower than them.
Kruuda lost about 1.20 behind Foulon. He was very angry at the organizers at the end of the stage.
Already on SS 2, 3 and 4 there was a 4 Minute gap after Foulon. Only in SS6 when Foulon started some minutes late, he was 2 min in front of Kruuda.
Poor Foulon. He maybe just wanted to have some fun in a WRC round but now is hated by other competitors and is feeling a lot of pressure :)
Seems it is not his fault, but organizer's
Kruuda just said in estonian news that he has protested the result of SS6. He said that Foulon had some technical issues and thats why he started just in front of him and when he caught him then Foulon didnt move away and he couldnt get past. He also asked the organizers to have a bigger gap because he knew he would catch Foulon but the organizers didnt give bigger gap.
What were the problems of Lappi?
Tidemand said he cruised SS6 and 7 to ensure no problems. I suppose the guys in the detuned World Rally cars were less cautious on the rough roads.
I must say I am very surprised by the pace of Kruuda, especially after seeing his pre-event test video where the car looked hideous.
If we aare on excuses you know very well PT had brakeissues on SS6 and cruised on SS7. Btw the most important for them in this rally is to bring the car home and get valuable data for the future and development.
PT is 31 sec behind and it´s not that much.
Now -end of excuses for us all...?
great stuff from meeke and nagle.but for the other irish lads its being a real bad rally
breen retired
McKenna retired
rafter retired
Cronin did not make the start
Quite big gaps in WRC2 already. Have there been problems for Grondal and Pärn?
here we go..

ébastien Ogier Olivier Gaspard, the special envoy of the RTBF in Portugal. What I remember is that we have not done a bad job ... but we're only sixth. It's good for the show ... This is the confirmation that the "FIA Plan" (This is the FIA has decided to implement this rule, Ed) running. I kill myself to explain, but you never believe me, you think it's easy, and even being first on the road, you can win ... I compensates much as I can, but n It is not every day possible. When you are an athlete, it is frustrating not to be able to fight on equal terms. I am very happy with my tire choice. I just wanted to have a little more luck, especially not to die this morning. If we remove this puncture, which cost us about ten seconds, I think we can say that our lap times were very good since we opened the road. "

aha, it was about time to mention it. Anyway the cancelled stage played significant role as well
Today, I only could go to the second loop. I had planned going to Ponte de Lima 2 and Viana 2, but I heard on the radio the cancellation of Ponte de Lima. Fortunately, I had watched how to see Caminha 2 and Viana 2. A pair of pics of each one.

Tomorrow I'll try to see both loops in Marão & Fridão, always far from ZE's. I'll post again some pics at night.
Nobody likes "poor" Ogier:rolleyes:
@Κielder nice photos mate!!
any comments from wrc/wrc2 crews?

Hahaha, thanks.
They're fast :). It would take a long time. I'm still planning tomorrow. I believe I'll have more time tomorrow night. Mainly, clean lines by Latvala (so he will crash tomorrow) & Ogier was driving as the angry man who had to open the road. On WRC2, I love Nasser. A man who drives the WRC as training between Dakars has to be special.
