You can almost bet on it that if Huyndai wants Neuville to test for them before his contract is over, then they find suitable resources for Malcolm to increase his goodwill ;-)

Interested to hear (from anyone that has driven in snow and ice) what people think Hyundai are doing in this video. To me it seems odd driving behaviour. Are they trying to simulate driving in snow for Monte? Getting data on braking and balance. Seems a really high gear ratio. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5HXmnWIocz0

Somebody said they were testing a "WRC event" including road sections etc. I have no sound here but if recall the video was without anti-lag that means probably in road mode of ECU.

When Škoda was preparing Fabia S2000 they were sometimes driving on motorways around Mladá Boleslav on road mode to search for every possible faults.

yes they have to map the ecu at very different climate conditions,and thats not so easy.Needs time,and different conditions,and many test kms.
remember the fail of all works 206 that didn t manage to start the engine at very cold weather?

I don't remember that one but I do remember the same with both Octavia WRC in Monte Carlo 1999 :)

Times has changed. From a Korean underdog they became one of the biggest and richest car manufacturers in the world. Now they are in a direct marketing battle with VAG, Toyota or PSA and they can not afford to run away like sick dogs. Their budget is virtually unlimited, they hired best available people, built a huge new facility, there are rumors they even bought some military area in Germany for having secret tests etc.

Actually what they do now is exactly same what VW did with the only exception in fact that they have no Fabia S2000 to use for testing so they decided to build a test car for 2014 which may have nothing common with the real 2015 WRC car.

In all aspects they look extremely serious. In other words if this is not serious approach what is?

Many similarities to Toyota in the 80s here, HQ in Germany, lots of cash, hire top notch.
That resulted in a lot of victories, lets see what their Korean twin can make of it in Rally!
