okay then...stupid mistake from him then, sayin he has learned from last year but still bottoming out with the car.

watching the overall he can climb up to 4th maximum.

This does look strange for Toyota
- rims?
- drivers/styles?
- too fragile/risky car setup?
Or a bit of all 3?

Well yes. All 3 were slow on the last stage due to tires and fast on this stage due to tires.

After last stage you knew already who would be the top 2 on this stage if no accidents. So not much to read into it.
