Unfortunately the young Andolfi tried to fly too close to the sun...

Just watched this video from Valais https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oWmQ87gokL4
There seems to be still big difference in torque between Fabia and other R5 in those uphill hairpins (especially lazy DS3 R5).
Yep, still Andolfi set great times (5 stages wins) with the i20.
Btw, Valais 3rd place went to young swiss driver Toedtli, a usual 208 Cup competitor. On his first outing with an R5 he was faster than Cerny almost till the end. Well done!

Hyundai R5 with potential reoccuring suspension component failure

Thanks, interesting
Another suspension part broke after a jump in Abbring's test yesterday.
Looks a bit like Hyundai did not test thoroughly enough at the moment.
Could just be a faulty part from a supplier. I used to work in a autoshop of a famous brand and one motor in particular keeped broking down after 2000-3000 km. They found out that was a part from a supplier and you can still buy that car with that motor and run it your whole life.
Jari Ketomaa is driving Mirage R5 in Rally Malaysia.

Why did Abbring not restart under Rally2 after his day one off in GB?
Great news! Really hoping this Mirage R5 APRC entry will be the first step for FIA to allow private tuners R5’s in every rally series. Ketoma was 2nd, 9m behind Gill's Fabia. http://aprc.tv/newsPage.php?Dominant...ship-title-947

Erm, didn't see that coming:
VW Polo R5, coming soon.

If true, it means end of Skoda Fabia R5 production and end of Skoda motorsport in rally at the end of 2017 at the latest.
We all have seen the way VW bosses are thinking during last two days (they are not afraid to stop WRC2017 project at the very end of development). Two R5s in one concern is a way too much. Wish I was wrong.
It may mean anything, it may also mean that Škoda will take over WRC activities although I am skeptical about that. It may also mean that Škoda will do for example the new R4 or completely different sport or nothing. We have to wait and see.
PSA has two R5's, why VAG can't do that?
PSA made two R5's because sometimes competitors work on sponsorship with their local importer and in some countries it's not the same company that imports both Peugeot and Citroen. It's the same for their vans and other vehicles. So I don't see why Polo R5 would kill Skoda R5. They are even in different regions, yes they are under the same "hat" but still have separate engineering, separate budget, separate marketing programs.
If VW decided to run a works programme with the R5, one brand could concentrate on ERC and the other on WRC2.
M-Sport organized a R5 event to possible costumers last friday with 20/30 drivers. I saw an italian guy, Ingram, Adielsson, Costa,...
Link?
Also Peter Bijvelds and Mats van den Brand tested it.
Also I've been there:)
