Sumava started.
at ss1 Kopecky 4,7 faster from Luky.Pech +7,9 from Kopecky.
Not bad at all from Nordgren on his first Czech asphalt stage.
Mares slightly quicker than Cerny continuing trend from end of round one.
Luky +0,8 from Kopecky at ss2
Kopecky again faster 6,4 sec at 18 km stage
Kopecky 'slow' on SS7 this morning, maybe he drives to protect his lead.
Nordgren quickest, impressive for a Finn inexperienced on asphalt.
Kopecky controls the rally.Very good pace from Nordgren.Impressive for his first rally at Czech.
Nice battle in the 208 cup too: Talas taking the lead from Navratil ;)
Wagner now 3rd...
And note the 208s and the Porsche(GTs)are battling for the lead in 2WD class :D
In the 208 cup today on leg 2, Julian Wagner is clearly the fastest of all ;) he only has 9" to catch on Navratil for the 2nd position of the cup with three stages left to go...
Something happened to Vaclav Pech in the penultimate stage
Puncture
Julian Wagner in the lead of the 208 Cup after SS13
Apparently time of Jan Talas in SS13 was wrong(maybe he was briefly stopped by another driver off the road and the organizers of the event changed his time  )
Anyway, Talas won the 208 cup for 19" ahead of Wagner...
Even Lukyanuk cannot stop him. 19th win in a row for Kopecky! Congratulations!

Crash of Štajf: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3mhFnH9BIm4
This time I didn't have time to follow the rally closely but it looks like Pech will have a massive problem to be second at the end of the season. Also very good event for Nordgren and Mareš. It's nice that Mareš and Kopáček became so quickly faster than Černý.
Nice video from the promoter: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7yp-ptcZdwc
Big moment of Mareš at 1:52; Kopáček's spin (due to broken driveshaft from heavy landing) at 2:16 or Pech's off at 3:02 (Uhel said it was his mistake to read the note wrong). You can skip the interviews You don't understand.
And last but not least congratulation to Lehus for strong performance on Šumava ;)
One of them is European historic champion and former driver of Pavel Dresler, another one is former multiple European hillclimb champion etc. Yes, they aren't as fast as Pech on rally stages but I wouldn't call them nobodies. The two ones I named also don't have machinery close to former Pech's one (and even Pech was able to drive it fast even for the price of finishing only in half of the events)...
Sudden brake failure for René Dohnal on onboard: https://www.facebook.com/DohnalRally...2484071123762/
This situation nicely shows that even those huge fucking safety zones have some meaning...
Also, stage in Czech Republic son't really suit GTs I guess.
That's what I tried to imply :) Using GT in CZ for anything else than fun is nonsense. Even with top machinery and top driver the result was simply a fail.
Last year he had a massive crash in Český Krumlov due to exactly same technical problem. He was quite badly injured. He was writing about his feelings and how he returned to active driving with a simple statistical fact on his mind - that there is very low probability that it would happen to him again. In the end it took only two events to happen again. At the end he's writing that he has to rethink whether to continue or not.
230-240 Hp more than R2 in case of Pech's 911 ;)
For me it was a really nice rally to watch, with high temperatures. Not very usually for Rallye Sumava.
The positive surprises were Nordgren, Mares and Kopacek, but also Lukyanuk. I didn't think that Luky could be at least as Pech on his home event.
The dissapointment was - again- Cerny.
I was also wondering that Jakes was using Hankook tyres.
Many onboards already here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCy3...xIYs5mA3is_vrg
No Lukyanuk so far, one from Kopecký, two from Pech. Kopecký including some basic telemetry. Very nice stages worth watching (especially the two with Pech).
By the way the stage Nordgren won (Pech's onboard SS7) was basically new for everyone and it's also partially gravel one.
My photos from Šumava & Vltava at http://www.rallylife.cz/rally-sumava...a-rallye-2018/
Really like your style! Excellent work.
Yeah, judging from this photo it must have been really hot! :D

I agree with Martijn. Great photos Nowi!
Julian Wagner moans about notional times in SS13 - first five drivers got the time of Wagner.
I was not there and I am not familiar with the situation but You can for sure ask PLuto for more information.
I know about it. I was that person who made this notional times. I was trying to explain it to him on arrival to last service, but without any proper success. I wants to make during this week a treatise about notional times - to explain system why we are doing notional times like this. And explain him that from my/our point of view it is more fair to everyone than what he proposed.
Today three onboards of Nordgren including the stage win appeared:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uKR-G_DSFKU (fastest time with a big moment already in the first corner and another at 3:05)

Is Kalle Rovanpera old enough to drive on Czech Championship events? Other Skoda works drivers have all had a go now..
Pluto knows for sure more but there are drivers even up to 16 years of age currently driving here so it shall be possible if somebody does the paper work with the ministry of transportation and the ASN.
