I don't know how the WRC cars eat the tyres. However some years back in the Finnish Championship Arctic there was a big difference whether you were driving on snow/ice or if the ruts already had gravel on it. Even an R2 Peugeot started to loose studs after a 20km fast stage from brand new tyres. One R5 driver said that they already had very different tyre wear compared to the front runners who didn't suffer from the gravel. Interesting to see how it is now with the WRC round with the tyre wear.

One minute gaps for WRC2 and WRC3 is not good
What is the chance that late-runners can drive any stage with proper speed.
I think some cars will find their way to snow-bank and then may block the road. For WRC3 drivers it's already win, when they can drive stage with competitive pace ;)
edit: noticed finally, that mknight made the same point :)
Lots of potential issues either way.
What if a WRC2 goes into a snowbank while already in the stage in that situation? His time loss wouldn't count?
Similarly if you cancel all WRC2 times you get WRC3+national cars possibly beating them (again depending on what time you get) and you get back to typical last years mix-up where WRC2, WRC3 and other R5s are completely mixed in standings. Add to the road running order issues for Saturday and Sunday (WRC2 will start first) and its a big mess.
Have to say I am worrying about stage cancellations/ big delays due to cars in snow banks. It's a worry with the top drivers who will be driving at incredible speeds, but even more of a worry with the likes of Bertelli back in a wrc car after a while away. If the wrc2 are running at minute intervals, it will be hard to manage them behind if there's a problem in the stage.
i guess they won’t show many R5 crews on All-Live this weekend with many extra World Rally Cars here. I noticed they have the cameras in Bertelli and Tuohino’s cars.
Yes, according to shakedown only Mikkelsen and Fourmaux had onboard cameras. It's a shame really, would have rather put the Bertelli and Tuohino cameras on Lappi and Huttunen.
Well its always been like this. After all its called WRC+ not WRC2+ :)
Technically there's no such thing as WRC1.
Basically, we cannot judge a privateer beforehand and decide who gets the camera and who doesn't. Imagine a situation where someone like Mikkelsen or Lappi would have a private WRC entry and they wouldn't get the onboard camera.
The entry fees for a P1 WRC car is high, and there's some value in return. Similarly as WRC2 also has a higher entry fee than WRC3.
There's limits to everything, and it's a shame these camera kits are so expensive. But ultimately having little cameras on WRC2 just means that there's exceptionally many WRC cars on the line!
So, start of the first stage is in about 20 minutes?
Dirtfish reported quite a few drivers went off in snowbanks in testing and got stuck.
All have to be careful as there are no fans to help.
Military excerices in the area of SS1, Pantealex reports. Several controls on the small road to stage.

#ArcticRallyFinland SS1 - Sarriojärvi (19.29 miles)
"There are crests on corners, compressions into heavy braking sections, and tricky cambers pulling the cars into snowbanks. An absolute ripper of a stage to start with."
So... who is the first one to get stuck in snow-bank?
(it's not my hope, I'm just afraid that it ruins the show)
so all with 6 tyres except Tänak and Loubet
Here we go!!
we are go !!!
Hi guys! Looking forward to this rally - really hard to pick a winner, IMHO.
Bit of gravel already showing through.
The stage should have started already, no?
Or is it just my all live that's acting up?
snow is tricking the on-board cameras, very underexposed image
Ok fixed. Had to uncast, and then recast.
It still played the pause pics and music.
I swear, this is the buggiest app ever.
So no choice to make for drivers when it comes to tyres.
All are 7 mm, and that is it it seems from all live.
