Less than a second between Cronin & Pryce at at end of Day One !
Missed the radio & finding it hard to get info... anyone know why Ahlin lost so much time ?
Day 2 drier... battle continues.

After SS9 Cronin's fastest time puts his o/a lead at 20s over Pryce. Could be decisive.
Ahlin just 0.1s behind Pryce !
No time from SS11 @UlsterRally for @OsianPryce & @Dale_Furniss Stopped in stage. Reason currently unknown... :(
Stage 11 Cronin retains lead, Pryce retires with technical issues.
Ahlin damaged the car at bit on SS10... I think he will happily take 2nd place now.

Cronin (M-Sport) takes the Ulster Rally win ahead of Ahlin.

The championship will go down to Rally Isle Of Man. :)
Shame to see Pryce and McCormack DNS on the Manx. MN today saying Pryce has hit some budget problems and a few other unspecified issues for pulling the entry. Both guys technically had outside title chances with the double points on offer. Looks like Osian won't enter GB either now.
Anyone else not a fan of splitting up the legs for points? Cronin will have to put his joker down for a single leg of the rally. Just all seems a bit contrived.

Shame but understandable.. and those car issues have been a real blow and no fault of his own.
Hope he has budget to come again next year.
Yes, but is the way of modern sport, and especially motorsport. Nascar have the Chase, BSB have a similar 'play off' type final rounds. I remember back in 2009 the Trackrod ran a double points final round decider between Cronin and Mark Higgins; even though it wasn't double the distance of the other rounds. Cronin won the event, but both drivers had the same results/ wins. Cronin won the BRC because of the 'double points' final round.
Saying that, back in 1997?? the Pirelli was split into 2 rounds.
No Pieter Tsjoen on the Isle of Man, he has to withdraw due to a recce accident...
Getting closer ...

What's been going on ... SS9 delayed and SS10 will be cancelled ?
Cronin clearly been pushing hard. Did this with an off on SS7.

He's pulled a decent gap on the other two. Edwards impressing again but Ahlin looks like he's just staying on the safe side to ensure the points ...
Round 7 winners are Keith Cronin (M-Sport) on Rally Isle Of Man.
Matt Edwards with a fine second place.
Championship leaders Fredrik Aahlin and Torstein Eriksen take third on round one. The pair now need a second on the final round.
To help follow the battle over the final round (Legs 3 and 4 of Rally Isle of Man) a special classification of BRC competitors over Legs 3 and 4 only will be available at
Classification over Legs 3 and 4 only for BRC competitors http://tynecomp.info/rally/riom17/1/currentsub1.html
as soon as the first times are available for SS12 (which soon be soon as the cars re just starting to come out of the stage).
Keith Cronin and Matt Edwards are tied right down to the last tenth of a second on the BRC legs 3 and classification. It might mean that Cronin will have to push a bit harder to get the maximum points he needs to win the championship; if he were to be beaten by Edwards I think even if Ahlin doesn't finish he would end up tied on points and lose on the tie decider. We don't know if Ahlin has finished SS14. No time came in from the automatic timing system and unfortunately due to an extreme shortage of man power the next card collect isn't until after SS15.
I now understand that Ahlin did finish SS14. The event is currently running 84 minutes late but the first cars are now into SS15. Times that are missing on 14 should be available when the cars reach the Passage Control after SS15.
Thanks for the updates Martin.
Amazing how close the title battle looks going into the last day of the season !
It is only close for winning the Championship if Ahlin has a significant problem today but Matt Edwards is certainly going to keep Cronin honest. Given that Matt is in his first season in an R5 and with a limited budget, I have been highly impressed by his steadily improving pace as the season has progressed.
They seem to say different on twitter..
The @MSA_BRC overall and Junior titles will be decided today.
@KeithC_Rally holds the advantage:
@138BET
@RallyIsleOfMan https://t.co/EoTbDHL1eT
A mistake by @MSA_BRC leader Ahlin handed @KeithC_Rally the title initiative ahead of the final @RallyIsleOfMan leg https://t.co/uCz4uWk0Kd https://t.co/KIuqSLwNGx
My mistake. If Ahlin finishes 3rd on legs 3 and 4 he will score 15 points and increase his total by 7 points to 128. If Cronin wins legs 3 and 4 he will score 25 points plus 5 bonus points as he is playing his joker and the 30 points will be added to his total making 129. However if Matt Edwards beats Cronin on legs 3 and 4 (and the Cronin/Edwards battle has swapped places twice this morning) then the title goes to Ahlin.
Looks like Ahlin is upping his pace; taken 21.7s from Matt Edwards on SS19. He is 15.1s behind Edwards in the battle for leg 3 and 4 points with two stages to go. This could go down to the wire.
We think the leading competitors encountered cows in stage 20 and stopped (except for car 1); they then came out of the stage in convoy. Stage is not currently running. Awaiting decision from Rally Control.
Complicated end to the rally just got even more so ! :(
SS20 stopped after first car, @KeithC_Rally, came across two cows on the stage.
8 cars affected, cows now being moved into field.
@MSA_BRC
Stage 20 now cancelled.
Interesting climax to the championship: they are just starting the last stage and Keith Cronin has to take 10s out of Matt Edwards on last stage to win BRC or Ahlin has to take 26s out of Cronin to win the title; the stage is 13.1 miles so all sorts of possibilities.
Tried for a few minutes to work out what is happening here in the battle. My head now hurts. Too complicated IMO.
Has Cronin won it by 0.1s !!!???
YYYYYEEEEEEAAAAHHHHH G'wan Keith & Mikey!!!!!!!!
BRC are saying "There is a query with Cronin's time from SS19. This will effect title fight. If Cronin wins he is champion. If Edwards wins Ahlin is Champion" Looking at the timing data Cronin's time looks OK to me but with only 0.1s in it anything is possible. Either way I don't think a stunning drive by Matt Edwards should be overlooked.
