It's amazing the wheel stayed attached to the suspension and allowed him to finish the stage. Reminds of Rally cars years agoQuote:

This must be his 3rd gearbox this Rally, right?Quote:

probably, if they changed yesterday aswell then third, yes, if they didn't change yesterday then second.
Aha, thanks. Yesterday he had problems, did they tried to repair it somehow, or he just started today with broken?Quote:

check out the times for SS9 and SS12. they are ~45 seconds faster the second time
What can we read in to this result list, where The S2000 cars are dominant.
Are they competitive vs R5 and RRC, or are the R5 drivers not good enough for this rally?
... and Lappi won in a big style! Anyway also biiig congratulations to Gryazhin. I didn't expect him to be so fast.
EDIT: Now also Raul Jeets with water temperature problems. All Fiesta R5 except works one of Kajetanowicz with same problem...
Congratulations to Lappi for perfect job to start the season, Gryazin for an amazing and unexpected second and Breen for a podium on his last event with the 207. From his recent comments I think Breen can't wait to get his hands on the 208 R5, it will be interesting to see if it is fast enough and reliable enough to take on the Fabia S2000.
Also thumbs up for an impressive drive for Jan Cerny.
Not much yet I don't think. This was probably THE rally of the season you would expect Lappi to win, and the only good level driver with an R5 was Kajetanowicz.Quote:

Kajetanowics almost crashed at last stage finish line!
He jumped out of road!
I guess that is serious flaw in the design of Fiesta R5, for drivers who like to "stick their nose" in the snow banks, I don't think Kajetanovich did that, he was just driving safely this Rally.Quote:

So the end of an era for the venerable old Pug 207 S2000 ... its been outclassed for a while but always kept the likes of Breen in with a chance against the newer machinery... :)
Fairwell and thanks !

Lappi did what he was supposed to do. I think he was surprised about Gryazin's pace also. For sure the driver of the rally is the young Russian. Very curious to see his pace on next events.
I'm a little bit surprised about the attitude that no sense to drive a rally like this 'cause the conditions are not the same for everyone. C'mon, that's part of rally! I guess there was a chance for everyone to do their best at qualifying stage and thereby had a chance to do something with their starting position. Playing tactics and using the brains is part of rally also. Winners find a way, losers find excuses.
Very impressed about Cerny! He knocked out the northern boys on their familiar surface. It won't be easy for them to try to beat Cerny on tarmac. The concept of the Junior ERC looks working well, good set of fast young drivers from different countries and different cars. What else can you want?

Lappi has showed he´s a coming driver. Not layed back as some of us thought he´d be after contract with Skoda. He impressed very much. Next year we want him in WRC.
so if somebody won against Gryazin is ready for wrc? stay calm. :DQuote:

He is in a good place to improve his tarmac skills. ERC champion this year, WRC with Fabia R5 in 2015 and then maybe promotion to VW sounds like a plan to me ;)

Yes, I also think that Lappi is main candidate for the title, but his success depends on two factors:Quote:

broken fywheel for Orsak.
Interesting, that hasn't happened on Fabia since one bad batch from 2010 I think (or at least I haven't heard about it since then).
Gryazhin receives Colin McRae Flat Out Trophy.
I am wondering.. is it the same Gryazin I have seen driving on Estonian roads? Tooking sometimes strange lines, often going veery wide etc. There are three possibilities:
a) he has improved a lot
b) Lappi and all others are actually really slow drivers
c) He has a fast twin brother :-)
btw. He was 6th in Rally Estonia 2013, just behind Timmu Kõrge..who was driving Evo9..
If he can do enough events Bouffier can win the title (if he doesn't hit any more hay bails)... I have a feeling that ERC title could be his aim this year, he said "it would have been better to have started on Janner" which I took as a hint he is not just aiming for one or two events here and there.Quote:
