Are you local? Local knowledge is very often very valuable, but unfortunately not always.Quote:

I remember the event 2001 when some cars got stuck on the stages. Rapid heavy rain after drought does not go quickly into the ground. It creates some small streams, mud holes etc.
So, who manages their 10 soft tires the best? .. is the winner :-)
I value your information ofcourse, and I thank you for sharing it.Quote:

However I get the feeling that you are a bit of an expert in this area so I will believe you :D , I will take some jackets with me. However I am not 100% sure about heavy rain, not in the Algarve region I must say. It is very unlikely that we see a scenario like in 2001, very different carachter between the north and south.
Hey
Here is some pictures of the Rally, during the qualifying stage and at Estadio Algarve :)

It´s very likely to be rainy days in southern Portugal this weekend according to yr.no.
Does anybody know if there's a magazine or program for sale with info about the stages?
Autosport has a guide for sale, in portuguese however. BP gas stations were offering one aswell but I dont know if it has english or just portuguese.Quote:

The organisers published an official program. I don´t know the price and is likely to be in english.
Ketomaa uses Michelin in this race.

In 2001 the race was far away from Algarve. The kind of gravel is very different from the old stages in the north of Portugal. But in Algarve region the rain falls hard sometimes.Quote:

It's hard but top 3...4 is what he should do in Portugal.
Can't see any reason using different tires than in the rally.Quote:

Many thanks Luis!
thanks for the link! that jump is nice ;)
Nobody pushes on the sss...preserving tyres.
It's raining in Algarve!!
Interesting! But it has time to dry though if it's a short rain shower..
This is the first rain front. By the time of the stages (very narrowly), next, second and long lasting front should move in. But still with light rain showers. But wait until tomorrow...rain+rain+rain.... everybody wants to be first on the road for tomorrow? Is there anyone brave enough to loose time to be among first starters tomorrow?Quote:

Here you can see rain radar real time Instituto de Meteorologia, IP Portugal
Despite being more west than UK, in this time of the year time in portugal is UTC +1 hour. So if radar shows 16.30 that means 17.30 in Portugal.
Three more stages coming, ran in the dark.Quote:
