How can they call this race Dakar when it is not raced in the geographical location, which has the same name?
Because it's a trademark now.
According to Dagbladet.no - forsiden Petter Solberg has an offer to drive this edition of Dakar for a top team, possibly Mini.
Petter says he think it is too little time for preparation, but has not turned it down.

Going by the size of the wheels it looks like a L200 in the buggy class( 2WD). Anybody know the specs of this vehicle?
No. 356,
An ASX with a 3.0 liter V6 turbo diesel. Maybe the original prototype engine first seen in the Racing Lancer. Weight is quite heavy at 2300Kg. Anybody familiar with the regulations regarding use of prototype engines?
Cheers.

Very nice presentation of the Peruvian team_!
Regarding the ASX, it is definately not a diesel, it is an Aston Martin V8 gasoline 4.8 ( or 4.7 or something close to that), developed based on the Racing Lancer by Thierry Viardot, ex-Ralliart tech leader-
The Van Merksteijn iPhone Dakar app looks good! Check it out! Might be for Android too!
Marc Coma at the end result falls into the category of motorcycles. Already have replacement within KTM, will occupy its place Kurt Caselli.
Quite true. The name itself of the Peruvian L200 team suggests 4x4. Think I got a little confused with the promo video with a vehicle which was not No.358 suggested otherwise.Quote:
