Gap jump practice has already destroyed at least one car.Quote:

That's disappointing for Ramana. He was doing so well this year.
Is anyone going to be there? I live in Southern California and only 30 minutes away from the Home Depot Center (in the city of Carson). This sounds mighty tempting and I'd love to sport a Subaru bandanna.
Here come the memories flooding in from Mexico....oh God!
Aww...I'll be going to the practice session tomorrow and was really hoping to see Nicky Grist. Rally legend Colin McRae will have to do... ;)Quote:

I guess the organizers didn't see a lot of financial sense to run a dozen gravel stages in a remote location without spectators.
Anyway, I'll be there to give rallying the support it deserves. Maybe I'll see some of you there. (You can spot me in my lucky Subaru hat.)
That was last weekend, nothing on this weekend, so Stewart is free...Quote:

Don't need Tony to throw a tantrum and then ram someone because he couldn't see due to the dust they kicked up...
And yep, this ain't rallying at all. But this one event is funding a handful of drivers seasons so far...
They said someones shocked about what happend on the x-Games on the rallyradio?
It was probably this..

Other than Ramana, I havent heard much drama from the rally portion
The rally event doesn't take place until Sunday afternoon local time. It'll air live on ABC and ESPN2-HD, I believe.
I've gone to both practice sessions, and there haven't been any major incidents to report. A few scrapes and bumps, here and there. I can report that Colin McRae is the fastest. And he was really kind about signing autographs and chatting. I'll post the pic on my blog tomorrow.
Looked like a realy stupid way to land but maybe it saved him just laying down on his backQuote:

ESPN 2 used to be on the tvu player but it's not anymore
Is it on today?
No tomorow 1:30pm LA time think thats 10:30 norwegian time if Los Angeles is GMT -8 ?
Yeah it's -8.
Great, I'm going to be on the east coast tomorrow so that's 4:30. At least it's Sunday.
I hear they'll be showing more than just the entry course and the finale this year. I'm excited.
By the way anyone not see that fall a couple of days ago?! Sick. The guy's leaving the hospital today I think.

Ramana Lagemann rolled his EVO8 on Tuesday at Jump practice but has the car straight enough (although its not that pretty...).
Antione L'Estage, defending Canadian Champion, rolled on the tarmac yesterday (mandatory gravel tires on tarmac makes things interesting) but I haven't heard if there was cage damage, doesn't look like it from the crash photos so if they can get it straight enough he'll be there.
Rockstar is sponsoring both SYMS drivers, expect Tanner to go deep.
Otis Dimiters should be in LA as a back up driver should a car not be able to take the start, and they may be lining up a second back up driver just in case.
My DVR is set!
Some shots from tarmac practice http://rally.subaru.com/event_2007_xgames_gallery.html
Man, After seeing those pictures i feel like i whould do anything to have Colin back in the Wrc. Just anything. I wan't him and Derek back, now!
Hope that isn't 2008 GpN car on show :(

Hmm.. makes me wonder.. How good would it be to have Gigi Galli at the X-Games?! He may not be the fastest of rally drivers, but goodness he can put on a show and play to the crowd!
Woud be cool to have Loeb, Bosse and Petter too :DQuote:

Other than your cult few, nobody here knows who Loeb and Gigi are.
That's why McRae (of video game fame, not WRC) and Said (of Nascar ranks) have name recognition.
They will know who they are when they're let loose on the x-games track! hehe.. Remember Gigi in Portugal SSS?
Oh, and by the way, i have absolutely no idea who Said is. Name recognition? none.
Peter can be show man too, using some of his RallyX tricks

It sounds all good and well to bring in lots of WRC drivers save for one point.
The X Games is one of THE key factors in the formation of serious privateer teams in the US. With only one factory team serious privateers are vital for a competitive championship. IF we had a vibrant championship with lots of sponsorship having WRC drivers would add a unique element to the mix but since we are building a vibrant championship anything we can do to get more teams better funding is critical.
Personally, I like seeing the local "heroes" that I can call on the phone or go up to and have a 10 minute chat with at US events then celebrities that are going to be here for a couple of days then gone for a year...
Might be a step towards getting a WRC round back.
