No Ogier. I thought he liked the Safari.
No Gryazin (my WRC2 guy) either.
Competition for Kajto in WRC2 this time.
The itinerrary looks massive this year, what is the Thursday stage and first Friday stage? That's new, isn't it?

How is weather at this time of the year in Kenya? Is it dryer or more rainy?
Noticed that Rovanpera, Evans and McErlean still had pirellis on their recce cars..
From Gemini AI:
Kenya experiences two rainy seasons: the "long rains" from March to May and the "short rains" from November to December, with the heaviest rainfall typically occurring in April.
Here's a more detailed breakdown
:
Long Rains (Masika): This period, from mid-March to May, brings the heaviest rainfall to most parts of Kenya.
Short Rains (Vuli): A shorter period of rain occurs in November and December.
Dry Season: The period from roughly mid-December to March is characterized by hot, usually rainless weather.
Rainfall Pattern: While prolonged rainfall isn't uncommon, rain often falls as torrential downpours, lasting for an hour or so, followed by sunshine and quickly drying ground.

Drivers not going to be giving in-depth interviews at stage end this weekend.
Whether this changes the approach to fines by the FIA is another story.
Oh for sure, I support the drivers doing this 100 %. Its one of the few things that they can do which the FIA have no control over. I really hope the FIA come to their senses soon.

Kalle fastest so far, maybe he finds something.
I think it is stupid. Just avoid cursing and things will be ok; world is crazy enough today - to protest for tolerance of bad language is beyond common sense. We already have bad ratings, allowing cursing and bad language will rise popularity ot rally? Wrong focus, folks!
Size of the fine is a different matter. I am sure it was possible to re-negotiate it or appeal.
It's not about allowing swearing. It's a protest against these abnormal fines. When a rider comes from a stage, adrenaline is at its peak and accidentally says a bad word, it has to be understandable. This gagging of riders is not ok, we all want to get genuine emotion from riders after a stage. But we can't do that if they have to think about every word they say. They can't be so damn sensitive that the word fuck immediately scares them away. Kindergarten children already know these words, nothing will happen from these few words. It's a matter of principle.
People love rallying and stage end interviews with pure emotions.
Ofcourse ,,F this, f that'' in media zone or service isn't acceptable, but it has never been a problem either.
Bad ratings may come because of FIA's childish decisions and not talking things thru with teams and drivers.

I hope some of you multi-lingual guys can translate the stage-end interviews for us. TIA.
Time for the Raikkonen mumble replies.

Have you ever done anything that requires FULL focus and being at the same time FULL of adrenaline?
I'm not a rally driver, but I need to admit, that I could be far behind their political correctness at the stage end interviews.
They are living the sport, they are fighting for their dreams and if something happens during the stage, they need to keep it and stay full focus. The first moment to release all emotions or just to think what just happened is at the stage end, and then there is a microphone in front of you. Those are exactly the emotions that keep the audience. To my taste it is not over the line, it is not some swearing contest. But here comes the native language aspect as well - English is not my native language and probably I don't feel the words the same way as native speakers. Additionally, where is the line between "usual spoken language" and "being rude" depends on cultural background.
If FIA could apply those fines for statements said in the media zone or in press-conference, I could understand. At the state end, you have a choice - pure emotions or... nothing.
Personally, I prefer to watch pure emotions and personality compared to PR-department-polished-robot answering pre-scripted questions with pre-scripted answers.
WRC drivers are protesting the FIA swearing ban by refusing to talk to the media (VIDEO)

We can use the situation to make the level-up challenge: "the best quote from a stage-end interview this weekend" :)
I’m with the drivers, if you are going to stick a microphone under someone’s nose 15s after a stage where who knows what has happened in the name of entertainment, then don’t be surprised if a few choice words come out.
In a controlled environment like a press conference or service park when the adrenaline has calmed down, then sure, nobody should be using bad language.
Same in F1, if they are going to broadcast the pit to car radio, then that should be off limits as in their case, they are actually still competing.
Just watched 2025 Formula 1: Drive to Survive.Oover all the episodes, a contstant fkuck goes around. Where is FIA? We are all equal, but some are more equal than the others?
If I remember correctly it started there, in F1, and transitioned in WRC. I don't get it why they focus so much on very fragile sport right now, whn the hings could go down so fast and destroy that little WRC have, soul and will to continue. The proper way for doing it would be if literally all of them swear so much, practicaly every fu****g word, that Benny would lose his mind. Oh and those two forum members who are so against swearing.
loved the silence from the drivers (or the native language thing). Support! FUCK MBS
hope they keep like that the whole weekend. The commentators got kinda frustrated too, which is good! Gotta make everybody turn against these stupid FIA ideas, jeeez
Big talk in Kenya this morning is rain. Heavy , overnight rains experienced. Likely showers predicted today
Where's the excitement for Safari Rally Kenya... by the start Rally Sweden we had 16 pages of comments !?
Eem, rally.tv user-interface is updated... and there is no "Maps" anymore? Or I just can not find it? (panic mode on)
and the live timing on the web page just produces errors, "the quality is amazing" - at least I can say this without being afraid of fines.
Yep, live maps are gone and maps in onboard sections are blind. They again "developing" things...
I allready asked on support and this is the answer:
Hi Tomas,

Currently, live onboard feeds with the map are not available, but we recognize how valuable this feature is for WRC fans like yourself. Your feedback is important, and we will share it with the relevant team.
We know we won't be able to make a quick change based on your comment, but do know that we're listening and we're getting it to the right team for future considerations. Your viewing experience is still the priority.
