Full route has been revealed with 183km & 14 Special Stages will take action in Ceredigion as well as Carmarthenshire and Powys counties as the rally takes place for the first time in the ERC, full info can be found here:

I'm English and don't speak Welsh, but as far as I know "cwm" is Welsh for valley & "Ystwyth" is the name of the river. That's after more than 50 years of going to rallies in Wales & watching Welsh language TV reports with English sub-titles!
I find Gaelic much harder - they have characters in their alphabet that I have no idea what sound they represent!

The rally base town is Aberystwyth.. Aber means river so it's at the mouth of the River Ystwyth.

Slightly confused by the order of stages on Saturday - surely they're not going to run the three 'normal' stages in a loop; one of them is way north of the others. Quite a big commute from Aberystwyth to those two new stages, might need to look for alternative accommodation (or get a tent out!).

The organisers have done a cracking job with the route, nice mix of fast flowing roads and tighter sections.
First rally in a while where I cannot decide where to spectate! All stages are fantastic, though access is difficult for Llyn Brianne and Nant y Moch.
Whilst there is only ~55 km on Sunday, Hafod and Bethania look very challenging - it won't be an easy cruise!
Does anyone know if you need / should have the paid spots for spectating? They're pretty expensive for one person going on their own, so I'm not sure if it's just paying for things that I don't really need and the website isn't clear at all about whether that's a 'nice to have' or it's officially the only way to spectate.
As I read it, you are buying tickets to enter the fan zone, not to spectate on the rally. As it does not state that the fan zones are the only places you can go, I would assume that it is possible to spectate anywhere - that is what I am doing anyway.
Obviously as its a closed road rally, most of the land to either side of the road is private, so its just a case of not standing or parking somewhere that will cause PR issues.
The other thing to consider is that if not using the official zones, will probably have to get to the stage pretty early to get in position before road closures.

Think there may be more overseas entries than when it was part of the TER. Remember reading it was on Campedelli's schedule as well.
We are an expensive and slightly more difficult island to reach these days however would expect a few more non BRC/BTRDA crews though.

For some reason Britain has never been very interested in ERC and vice versa...
Its a shame that more of the ERC regulars didn't enter, but still, I reckon that 6-8 drivers on that list could win.
Will still be a very competitive event, and with a further 98 cars entered into the national rally will be good for spectators.

It was Tudor Webasto in 1988. It was the first year I was part of the results team on the event and I was involved on every one after that. Part of the problem for the Europeans is that they didn't like the bumpy tarmac as most of them were used to much smoother roads meaning they often struggled with setup and enticements like free entry & travel assistance weren't enough when they could do any one of dozens of events they were used to to get points. They only ever came when they really needed coefficient 20 points for their championship bid.Quote:

The point I was trying to make though is that even in the days of the co-efficient system holding a rally towards the end of the season when the title race was down to a handful of drivers with strong local competition on an event that not many of the ERC had previously done was not the strongest draw. Ceredigion being held only a couple of weeks after the biggest rally of the championship year probably hasnt helped either. There are plenty of non-uk drivers on that list lets be honest its just that they are not in premier leauge machinery.

Expected the ERC entries to be fairly low but really poor BRC turnout on the whole, compared to the (disastrous) first rally of the season.
It's part of an army training programme for engineers - get drivers to wreck them and get the young mechanics to learn how to fix and maintain them.Quote:
