Looked at the entrylist of Helix rally estonia, and saw a lot of GAZ 51. Turned out to be older russian trucks buildt into rallycars.
looked like a fun class to watch. What are tech specs on these?
also a couple of proto cars, I am guessing from Dytko. How far off the Rhabe they been in the past?
Only Dytko is Aus`s Polo, others are locally-built, Fiestas with an R5-like suspension. All based on Evo`s though. Pretty fast cars, but still new and with mistakes, which caught out several (+ manmade jumps probably had their part in it). Kruuda was the fastest non-WRC on SS1, then sadly retired for example...
Gaz trucks are with a min. weight 2 tons, allowed engines only from the manuf., R6 -4000cm3 or V8 -4600cm3 (some modifications allowed, gearbox free, original brake system, original front axle, etc.

Last round of Estonian rally season, too bad it coincides with ERC in Liepaja, but still many fast competitiors with great national cars like M3`s, Gaz trucks (i think its a record for them?) etc. Some who have the chance, are planning to do both ( I heard that Gorban has one Mini in Latvia waiting for Sunday). Gross now has a Fiesta WRC mk8, could be Ostberg`s car, dont know yet.
Rally Aluksne running now with two night stages today. And all Saturday of rallying will come tomorrow.

The Polo R5 is probably faster than the Mini JCW WRC by now.

Great win by Oliver! Despite a puncture on last stage - Gorban had no chances to win this rally.
And quite interesting battles in other classes. LRC3, after SS5 top3 was in 5sec. Torn try to attack Sesks and Poom but went off into a snowbank and lost 3 min. On next stage Poom try the same with same result, spent 12min in a snowbank. Sesks 'easy' win a rally.
In LRC5 - battle with two CivicR3. Tolp and Subi fighting from a beginning. After SS8 Tolp leading by 0.28sec. SS9 jump again into a lead (2sec) and on last stage went off into snowbank. Lost a lead and another 2min.

It was really hard rally, with difficult conditions, so it's impressive drive from Jaroslav and his co-driver.

Gross with '17 year spec Fiesta WRC. Gryazin comeback form nordic rallys. For Gorban and Oliver it will be tough rally.

Seems another win for Oliver and so close battle for 2nd
stages on 2nd pass very rutted and a lot of people on 1st pass going wide and to the ditches. And in such kind of conditions ruts guide you off road. Very difficult conditions
plus very good rally for Filip Nivette so far. First snow rally with R5

Kaur retired with gearbox problem. Marakas so slow in a stage and finally stopped and retired.
Gryazin overtake Rostilov and jump from 6th to 3rd. Gross up to 2nd, he was unconfident with wider studs-snow tyre on his Fiesta'17 compare to usual more narrow one

Mikko Hirvonen have start with proper modern rally car since 2015 - Fiesta R5 Mk1. Very hard stage conditions on SS2, night and a lot of fog! But anyway Oliver still fastest.

Few battles till the end. On first loop of ending stages SS8-9 Oliver - cut 6.1 sec to Gross and overall gap only 2.1. It seems that Oliver can get overall win, but no. Gross win SS10 by 2.7 sec and on last one Solberg pushed so hard but can get only 1.5sec and win goes to Gross. To be honest Solberg was not happy about his car on this weekend, and probably if setup was right - it could be changed.
On last stage Blums re-get lead in LRC2 (N4 class) from Rostilov, both Evo9. Interesting that they start battle in their group in 10sec between , and remain till SS8 (+2.6), then +1.3, -0.1 and on final stage Blums quicker by 0.4 and grab class win by 0.3 ^_^
