Hänninen

If the car doesn't break, why not kristian sohlberg, or patrick sandell? :)

Do we know on what car Sandell will compete ? as for Sohlberg I don't know how the Punto will cope with snow and ice...

Ketomaa, Hänninen or Flodin, the one of those who has less problems will win.

Look at Michal Kosciuszko pace in Poland with the 207 yesterday when he hadn't to sweep the snow for the others(or even Solowow in the Grande Punto during the first day of rally on friday)...very interesting behaviour of the S2000s on snow, perhaps a good indication for swedish rally ??? :D

Sohlberg is not in PWRC....
The question in this thread is who will win PWRC.

Will be nice to see how the new 2008 Impreza will do in the hands of the regulars like Toshi, Nasser (who already won in Qatar last week with N14 Prodrive)

Will Ketomaa have new model car ?
Hanninen lets hope his car will pass the 'post' event scruteneering
Sandell how will the 207 do this year, last year was not so good
Nittel if he has good evo IX could be surprise

Interesting rally in PWRC

I think Flodin or Ketomaa or maybe Eyvind Brynilldssen

Wim_Impreza

I think Flodin.

@ HaCo: Kristian Sohlberg was already out on SS2 in the Arctic Lapland Rally with the Punto. Sandell is not a top driver, he won't win an event this year.

If there is no problem for him I vote Hanninen.

About the S2000... Sandel is not fast enough to be on podium in my opinion. Kristian Sohlberh is fast but very unreliable, I think he won't finish the rally (yes, he was very fast in Arctic rally but even not a whole single stage).

Yes, in 2006 he was clearly beaten in speed by Meeke, Aava, Andersson and Prokop.

Krisitan Sohlberg did one decent time in Arctic Rally and I think Punto would do just fine on snow as soon as they figure out the ventilation problem so their sidewindows stay visible. It's Sohlberg himself that I don't trust too much.

As for the original question, Hänninen will be man to beat.

Sandell did a half day test today and was quite happy with the car. Easy to drive and he felt good speed. The most exicting thing that happend during the day was that one of his mechanics burried his rental car deeeeeeeep in a snow bank :D

Is Svedlund going to drive in PWRC, or is he driving in class N4 ?

My idea was to tip only btw registered PWRC Teams, and not the the rest of the N4 Armada !!

Sweden is so special, that some Nordic drivers will do very well - but this tread was intended to focus on those signed up for PWRC.

Svedlund has a wild card for this event so will score PWRC points, but has not applied to the PWRC as of yet. Don't think he will either.

Like Viktory says Svedlund has wild card for this event, but can NOT enter PWRC anymore as ALL the 28 slots are already taken

I'm also surprised about Sandell's pace, good job.

I'm absolutely thrilled with Sandell's pace. As I said earlier, best possible PR for S2000 machinery. I truly hope more driver consider S2000 as an option to group-N cars. PWRC may become REALLY inetersting series.

I completely understand what you are saying.

More teams and more variety makes for better viewing, BUT (you knew there had to be a but), I kind of liked the idea of the PWRC being more or less a "spec" car class. Almost everyone runs the latest homolgulation and with only two manufacturers there was so little variance in the cars you knew that it had to be the drivers that made the difference.

I am torn both ways.

And I do understand what you mean mate :)

If only there would be different shells available to those Subarus and Mitsus and we wouldn't have a problem at all ;) :D

ZequeArgentina

I have already said it.
Super2000 cars are much better than "normal" Group N.
Since the beggining they were equally fast (and much in tarmac), but after a little development they are already faster.

They need to increase N4 restrictors so that they get more power to the subs and mitsus so they can equalize the more kgs. they carry.

Mirek
8th February 2008, 18:12
ZequeArgentina: But why? S2000 is much more expensive. If You make gr. N cars faster what would be reason for S2000 existence. And anyway if You increase restrictor, You get gr. A car. Too many of gr. A things are already allowed in gr. N. I would welcome gr. A but the time passed away when they set WRC class and now there are very few cars to built gr. A from.

More S2000 means less group N cars. The S2000 are better than the Group N, it was in 2007 and still is this year. For me is a surprise that teams still run all in Mitsubishis and Subarus. A Peugeot 207 S2000 is faster than any group N, and the few good Fiat Puntos also.

ProRally
9th February 2008, 17:26
You can build at least 2 good FULL spec Mitsu or Subie for the price of 1 S2000, then the rebuilds with 'production' parts are lot cheaper then the 'special' S2000 parts
This is already expensive sport, group N is much cheaper then S2000 even on PWRC level

JAM
9th February 2008, 17:37
I need to correct my post. When I wrote "For me is a surprise that teams still run all in Mitsubishis and Subarus" was talkking about the top teams with good budgets that have the title as the only goal. A new S2000 costs about 300.000 Euros with full specs and a Group N don't reach the 200.000...

dimviii
9th February 2008, 17:41
@Prorally+10000000
if we had only s2000 cars it is more than sure that more than half of excisting drivers are going to watch rallies as spectators
in no case i d like to see drivers like Hanninen, Ketomaa , Flodin, etc with no car.
gr N is alive for more than 25 years, with very big success and i can not see a reason for not beeing.
it is the only championship that you don t know who is going to win.
just see the pickems from 20 members for sweden rally.
thats rallying!!!!

Tom206wrc
9th February 2008, 19:23
What I'd like is a melting of classical GrNs and S2000s, but I'd like MORE S2000s than one among PWRC...

dimviii
9th February 2008, 23:14
Tom206 if a s2000 costs the same or 10% more than an scubi or mitsu, be sure that everybody would choose a real rally car.
but with 150000 more, you can do 2-3 years in a national championship with an evo-sti

Agree with you ProRally.
I like the see seperated group N and S2000.
I mean real group N!
The current Mitsubishi and Subaru group N belong in S2000 IMO.
Could be like this;
1*WRC, Cars-Factory + B teams
2*S2000, Factory + private teams
3*GroupN, only private teams and amateur drivers
